MINE DO......

I'M THINKING THAT, MOST FERRULE MATERIALS RESIST DIRT, KEEPING THEM SEMI-CLEAN. THE WOOD ABSORBS THE DUST.

Most guys will put a coating of cyno on the last inch of the shaft.

My OB-1 wooden ferrule gets filthy... should clean it, but it works fine as is.

They are gonna get discolored. You can either be careful how the chalk is applied, or clean then after every session. Magic Eraser would be the best for daily cleaning.

I would definitely think so. Bob Jewett has had a ferrule-less shaft for a while. Maybe he can give a photo.

put some masking tape right under the tip

Who offers that shaft treatment, the one that prevents staining? Gulyassy...? That seems to be a good option here.

I personally would LOVE to hear/try a demo on a ferruleless shaft; it sounds like most of the LD properties without taking from the hit!
