Fight at Hardtimes in Sacramento?

I heard from a local today that here was a big brawl over there and about 40 or so people were involved. I also heard that someone ran their car through the front door and the owner got hit by the car. I hope he's ok as well as no one was seriously injured or even killed. If anyone could shed some more light on this subject that would be great.

Glad nobody was killed. If you read the comments from the neighbors who live within 100 yards you can hear the frustration in their plea. The owner better get more and better security or he's likely to find himself shut down...Tom

For the incidents in pool halls I blame the owners. In the pool hall I hang around it is catch as catch can.You are on your own to fight the gangsters.the gangsters here do not fight fairly, their friends do sucker stabbing from behind with a knife.waitresses do not say any thing to discourage the unruly behaviors because they do not get their tip if they do any thing to check the behaviors of the rowdies/irresponsible/or wrong actions inadvertantly done by the thoughtless people.Bouncers do not come to the floor and they just stand at the cash register.
hard times in sacramento is a very nice pool room but in a bad neighborhood.

How bout it, Tom? Fill us in. I have learned to take press reports with a grain of salt.

No one was shot

I don't have any first hand knowledge of what happened. I left there around 11pm and it happened sometime around 2am.

I do know that Chuck Markulis (owner) is in the hospital and as of late last night was still not out of the intensive care. He did get a broken leg.

I do know that NO ONE WAS SHOT.

Hard Times is next to a Police Station & in a commercial area. They have security, so it must have been the numbers involved that let it get out of hand. I imagine they will even step up the security now. I hope Chuck is ok.

HARDTIMES IS A GREAT PLACE LETS NOT LET THIS DISCURAGE US FROM BEING LOYAL TO A GREAT POOL HALL. LETS ALL JUST HAVE GOOD THOUGHTS FOR CHUCK AND HIS CREW AND HOPE HE MAKES IT OUT OF INTENSIVE CARE SOON.

Thanks for the info Tom. When I first read this I was hoping that you didn't get caught up or hurt in that mess. Glad to hear your okay.

tpdtom.
What comments are you talking about?
What neighbors?
100 Yards in any direction from Hard Times is nothing but commercial buildings.

The Sherrif's station shares the same parking lot.

Your negative opinions are some of the biased stereotypical attitudes that keep pool players stigmatized.

You'd better get your facts straight before you start commenting about something you know nothing about.

I can deal with opinions, everyone has one, you are no different.

But your post indicates you have first hand knoweldge about Hard Times and the neighborhood.

How about backing up your comments with some facts?

Before you start accusing people of not having the facts straight, remember this.
You are the one that put out the thread that Raphael was dead. Do you remember doing that?

I believe he's talking about the comments at the bottom of the SacBee article link.

Back it up

Let's see here, the sheriff is quoted as saying one person was shot in the head but you say NO ONE was shot. Could you back up that statement with facts. Plus read the comments on the bottom of the article, those are the ones that are quoted, he is basing his statement on the actual neighbors, and most of the comments are negative. Did you not see those?

there were lots of fights there in the late 80's, I hope everyhting is ok and chuck is ok, its a great poolroom.

the bigdog..

Yes, I remember and I learned my lesson. Thanks for the reminder

I read the comments and this is the same woman that complains when the sherrifs test their horns and sirens at night and get her dogs barking. Her dogs bark at everything.. I doubt very seriously that she heard the shots, but I've been wrong before.

Chose what you want to believe.
No one was shot.

I read the comments at the bottom of the news report and they mostly sound like 'bandwagon jumpers'

Did you read all the comments?

Actually, what keeps pool and pool halls "stigmatized" is the fact that we've had yet another fight in yet another pool hall!

I haven't heard, seen or read about many fights, guns, etc., on a golf course or tennis courts.

My understanding is that there was indeed a gun shot; whether someone was hit or not.

But the fact remains that it was yet another big ass brawl in a Pool Hall, and the Owner is absolutely in the hospital. THAT'S what keeps the public opinion rather low.

Can you blame them??

Hell, after all these years we are still our own worse enemy.
