For my non-Facebook friends, here's the skinny. Final Eight left standing at Joss Tour $25,000-added Turning Stone 9-ball tournament in Verona, NY. This is a double-elimination event, with the finals being one extended race to 13. Who do you like to meet up in the finals?

Winner's side of the chart:

• America's Thoroughbred Shane VanBoening v. Canadian Sweetheart Erik Hjorleifson
• American Young Gun Hunter Lombardo v. American veteran Johnny Archer

Loser's side of the chart, with one loss:

• Finnish Olli Turkulainen v. Israeli "Zion the Lion" Zion Zvi
• Scot Jayson Shaw aka "Eagle Eyes" v. American Bucky Souvanthong

The South Dakota Kid, Mr. Shane Van Boening, always a favorite to win any event he plays in. All champion players have a streak of greatness, and Shane is still riding high and doesn't look like he's losing any steam. USA, ALL THE WAY, baby!

Erik Hjorleifson from Canada seems to rise to the top in events where the competition is tough. He's active on the tournament trail, and has quite a few impressive wins under his championship belt, to include going undefeated in the recent 22nd Jay Swanson Memorial. Looks like Erik Hjorleifson is on a mission to win.

Those who know him say he has great mechanics and fundamentals when he plays. Hunter Lombardo, a regular on the tournament trail, is enjoying a great tournament this weekend, but how will he do when he faces seasoned veteran Johnny Archer today? Time will tell. Hunter is in it to win it and hopes to dodge Archer's arrow later today and advance to the finals.

What can you say about Johnny Archer that hasn't already been said? Hall of Famer and the industry's poster child for pool everywhere. He's a man of strong faith and enjoys family life, which is a hard balance in the pool world. Make no mistake about it, this Scorpion still packs a deadly stinger and may enjoy himself another almighty win. Everybody loves Johnny!

Well, I must admit, I had never heard of Olli Turkulainen until this weekend, but when I saw him go double hill with Jayson Shaw and winning, he's got my attention. From Finland, Olli -- I love that name -- is making a statement at the Turning Stone. Don't count him out of the fight! He may be the dark horse of the tournament. I'll be watching him for sure!

A regular player on the professional tournament trail, Zion Zvi is a charming man with a charismatic personality. Those who meet him always walk away with a smile on their face -- unless it's on a field of tournament blue. Zion has the firepower to win this event. Make no mistake about it. He's a formidable player in any tournament he steps foot in.

Jayson Shaw from Scotland resides in USA at the moment and seems to balance family life with the professional pool tournament trail, a feat worthy of mention. Jayson brings emotion and excitement to pool, which is sorely needed. Everyone hangs onto every word and watches his every move when Jayson is in the house. Will he be in beast mode today and rise to the top? Stay tuned.

Bucky Souvantong is a regular on the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, and he always plays well at the Turning Stone. I caught his game about 15 years ago when I saw him rising in the charts. He was a young'n back then, and he's still giong strong today. Make no mistake about it, Bucky can win. He's a dedicated player who will fight to the finish line, and he just might get there later today.

Excellent write up Jennie. This will be a great day of pool, and a tourney that I will make it to one day.

Thanks for the update!

Hi Jam,
Boy are you fast, all that in 9 minutes. Thanks for what you do.

How old is Hunter? Don't hear much about him. Pretty sure he's older than SVB. Hope he takes it down.

This was Jam at her very best! I loved every one of her capsule bio's on each player! :thumbup2:
