First Break is CLOSE to opening

I stopped by Sunday night to see how Anthony was doing and they are very close to re-opening.

The place is BEAUTIFUL! There will be 9 Diamond 9 footers plus a Diamond Billiard table!

Inspection is final hurdle. Assuming it goes well, could be open this weekend.

Any MD/DC/NoVA AZBers up for a trip to Sterling?

Finally, I need more time on Diamond Tables!!! They are only used at every major tournament and they bank differently. The more time I get on those tables the better! LOCAL players will do much better at those major events with more time on diamond tables!!! All of NVA/DC/MD have GC tables only! The 5 or so diamond tables at Big Daddies are avoided like the plaque and NO ONE uses those!!!

Does Anthony plan to have the Thursday night tournament pick up where it left off? I hadn't played in a while, and then got word about the fire, so now it's been quite a while. It was always a lot of fun, though.

Anyone who hears any news about a definite reopening date, keep this thread posted, please.

As far as I know, the old schedule will be put back in place. I have leagues up there, Sunday and Tuesday night that I need to get going again.

I'll let everyone know what the opening date is. Anthony said Friday if all goes well with the inspector.
 
Thursday nineball tourney should get right back into action! Also there should be three bob stock memorial events coming during this upcoming spring/summer season.
The three events will be:
1) 2010 bob stock onepocket (make up)
2) 2011 bob stock onepocket
3) 2011 bob stock nineball

That is great news...
The face lift, new tables, new bathrooms and maybe a new menu will bring some folks back.

I have only been there twice, once in '94' playing in a Texas Express event, and the second time a few years back with my wife when we were coming back from an sports show near Dullas.

I liked the place, guess I need to visit it again. Maybe an AZ get together sometime after it reopens?

First Break officially re-opens this Friday, the 25th!

And, even better, the weekly 9-Ball Tourney resumes tomorrow night!

Starts at 8 and our lovely TD, Ali, says to call if you're going to be late. 703-444-2551.

Did I mention that the place looks incredible and the Diamonds are beautiful?!?

I dropped off Sho Nuff at the airport earlier today. He's gonna be there for the Grand Re-Opening.

I'll be there tomorrow night with a couple of my friends.

Could be tough to get table time. Didn't know the 9-Ball tournamant was going on opening night and my friends won't be up for that or for staying that late.

I did know that the weekly Thursday night 9-ball tournaments would be resuming right away. Brandon Shuff normally runs the Thursday night tournaments and posted he will be continuing with that.

I also agree with Brandon's post that this will now be the best pool room in Northern VA.

I think you're mixing up some posts. Grand opening Friday (25th), but Thursday night 9-ball tournament on Thursday (24th).

I'm going to make a phone call to confirm what I just said, but if there's a tournament tonight I'm going to go and play. I'd be quite happy to have a beer or two with any AZers that also want to come by.

Introduce yourself if you do. I'm the only Andrew playing in the tournament whenever I've played, so I should be easy to spot. If you still need help I'm the tall guy with the beard, wearing jeans and a blue-ish polo.

I did get it a little mixed up. I thought MikeM's "tomorrow night" was Friday the 25th not Thursday the 24th. They did used to run Friday night 9 ball tournaments as well so I thought it was the Friday one. I assumed (wrongly) that if the grand opening was Friday the 25th, that the first Thursday tournament would be March 3rd.

I should also clarify that Brandon Shuff's post saying it would be the best pool hall in Northern VA was on First Break's facebook page, not here in the AZ forums.

I think I might just stop by after dinner to see what's going on, although I can't stay to play tonight. I'll look for you Andrew and introduce myself.
