First cue selection

Post in the Wanted/For Sale section of the forum, that you are relatively new to the game and are looking to purchase your first cue. State that you'd like to buy one for $100 shipped. This place is like family, and someone will come with a nice gesture and get you a cue that's 100 times better than either of the Players cues you linked to. If I happened to have one, heck I'd send you a nice first "real" cue without payment....but I don't have an extra at the moment.

give someone a shot here (in the forums)....

amen to all of this. for you to be posting on here about cue choice tells me you are sort of taking an interest in this game. if thats your choice either one would be fine for a first cue. however, Players cues arent exactly the cream of the crop. but again, if its your first cue it might be enough to get you started.

I like the first one.
Rackem who posts here has a much better line of cues he sells for around a $100.
Try posting in the for sale section as a previous poster suggested.

Honestly both cues are the same, except for the Colorful Decals. Choose the one you like best, as you can not go wrong with either one!

There are NO MAGIC Cues:eek:, it is the Players Skill who turn the cue into the Magic WAND!

See if you can find a custom cue. I'd stay away from the mass-produced stuff. But that's just me.

Thanks guys. I posted in the for sale section looking for a first cue.

I really didnt know that they were decals on the cues. I thought it was just imitation mother of pearl and cheaper materials. I will keep looking.

Hunt around for a nice used cue. I had a nice older Lucasi not long a ago that I paid $50.00 for with an Action case. So there are some good deals on a good quality cue out there if your patient.

I wish I had these advices when I first got my first cue! For sentimental values, I would go ahead and buy the Players and put a decent tip on it. However, if you are not looking to replace your cue when you get better, then go ahead and buy a 100 dollar cue on the used forum.

For your money, getting a used cue is much better, better quality and performance. However, you should get a new one to call it your own. With a nice tip, it is plenty to teach you all the basics. And in half a year or a year when you learn the game and know what your playing style is like, then you can put your money in a nice cue.

Maybe this analogy works. Say you have 20k to buy a car. There is an used M3 for sale that is in that budget and it will perform better than your brand new 20k car. (Maintanence and Gas aside) You might still prefer getting a new 20k car just because no one has used it and it is yours. I don't think this analogy works that well, but maybe you get the picture.

Now I have all these offers for great cues. Such hard decisions.

I would rather buy a quality used cue than a mediocre brand new one.

I'm glad you made your decision to root out buying a cheap new cue. I guess just go with whichever one that is in good condition and looks good to you. All those sticks should perform well, and as you get better and look towards your next cue, you will know what your preferences are.

I ended up buying this cue from a member

Cheers! It's good to keep money in the community. I buy 80 - 90% of my pool supplies here on AzB or from AzB members: cues, ball cases, T-shirts, books, you name it.

Keep a good tip on your cue, practice as much as you can, and the cue will become a part of you. The first cue I bought new over 15 years ago was a $140 sneaky pete (a "plain jane" cue), and I won't ever part with it.

Looks nice. What kind is it and what did you pay, if you don't mind me askng..
Made by SlyFoxx of New Jersey. I am not sure if they make cues anymore. I can find very little information about them. Seller says it is brand new but made in the 80s. I paid $100.
