Flaws

That second cue is unbelievable! I have never seen anything like that. Even if it is flawed, It is a beautiful flaw.

Eric,

As I said above. I'd like to purchase the first cue above. Please pm me a price and a paypal address.

When people are salivating over your "flawed" cues(including myself),you are doing alright. Congrats on all the success,Mr. Crisp.

I was at Jerry McWorters the other day and this subject came up. Told me about a 5k cue, near completion that had to be trashed.

About 15 years ago he had showed me another that a bit took a bite out of.....again, about 5k lost.

I don't feel so alone when I hear these stories.....

I'm going to start using a lot of "character" woods. I have quite a collection of woods set aside that just don't look like the other stuff. It's not ugly, just has character. A rustic theme, for lack of better description.

Wow. can't wait to see a Sugartree with character wood. Opposed to all the boring wood you normaly use:rolleyes:

Like this " Bit took off" Now I have to charge extra for it . I like the feel , a place for the little finger to fall . Just kidding about chargeing extra . Jim

A month or so before he left us Mike Cochran showed me a nice ebony front cue that had a big ol' crack right below the joint pin. It was almost ready for finish when it happened. He said you just never know what wood is going to do. STILL miss him.

I delivered tables for a company that used to manufacture them locally so I was around the process from beginning to end. Occasionally we would get a railtop that had a natural blemish in it. We would consider the customer and table (price) and either pitch it and start over or finish it and go on.

I noticed one thing in the few times we guessed wrong and had to replace a rail, and that was if the guy was never going to play on it and just wanted it because he needed to show he could afford it then it had to be replaced. If the guy was going to actually use it for what it was meant for then it rarely had to be replaced. I get the same feeling reading several of these posts.

Sometimes it is a shame that we can not look past natural beauty.

Wow ! Those are some really flawed and ugly cues . Trust me you should send them to me to make sure they never see the light of day again. I'll even pay the shipping to make sure they are properly attended to.
