Flowers Style Case Update

John the work looks great, I think you have a lot to be proud of with your cases.

I know people have been giving you a hard time about the J. Flowers thing and I honestly don't know what to think of that so I'm not here to lecture you on it.

All I know is if I made these cases I would be so proud to have my name stamped on them and if you have been inspired by J. Flowers design I think you could pay tribute just by saying.. J.B. Cases inspired by J. Flowers.

Just my thought but I think it's a disservice to you and the work you do to not be stamping your own name on it.

Just my opinion.

Thanks. I have thought about it and I think that we will begin putting something on the case to show that the "maker" is not "J.Flowers" but instead Jiasen Cue Case Factory or JB Cases.

New lite interior

Anybody received one of these Flowers Style Case cases with the new "Lite" interior?

Any thoughts and pictures if you have gotten one.

I got my case today and it has the "Lite" interior. At first I wasn't sure if i was going to like it, but after using it tonight, it works great and really keeps my cues safe. The case is beautiful and very well built. Everyone at the tournament tonight loved it, including Johnny Archer who was there. Thanks for a great case John, it was well worth the wait.

Still working on 10-17. Although this case isn't too hard to build I have directed my staff to set up jigs and processes to make it in more of a production environment. This has taken most of last week. So it's coming along and many cases will be finishing at close to the same time.

So any idea how far away order 022 is? Would you say before or after Thanksgiving? And definitely before Christmas?

I was just curious. I am in no hurry but seeing all these completed cases just makes me want to see mine that much more! Keep up the good work JB

It should have been named the J. Justis tribute case. Show me one Flowers case with this style pocket, lid closure or shoulder strap configuration.

Sure. I'll send you the links to the pictures in email. Thanks for the comparison pictures. You did a lot of similar things to Jay's cases and I am using a few of your improvements on the tribute models. I didn't want to go so retro as to make the cases impractical.

I guess what you told Jay back when you started making (and improving on) his style of case holds equally true today. I think you said something like 'there is room enough in the market for both of us'. I will be sure to mention you and your cases for both the inspiration you provided and for comparison purposes on the new J.Flowers Cases website.

It's sort of a circle isn't it. I was inspired to make cases by a Flowers case I owned, you were inspired to make cases because you didn't want to wait 8 weeks to get a Flowers case, and now I am making Flowers tributes that include some of the improvements that you made to the basic style. How cool is that? All one big happy case making family. Group hug. :-)

By the way, if you didn't notice I added a jump handle compartment on the left side. You might want to consider doing that as well as my customers over the years have found it to be really useful.

I would, but these are not my photos and I don't have the right to republish them. I will send you the links to my private collection of images that I have collected and you can track down the owners of the photos and ask the copyright holders for permission to publish them or the links to them if you want to.

Meanwhile Chris Tate has a nice resource on Flowers cases shown here in case you haven't seen it. http://www.palmercollector.com/JayFlowers.html

There you will find cases with very similar patterns, pockets, straps, handles, and lids showing the influence Jay had on both of us.

What I am making are not 1 to 1 copies of Jay's designs, nor are they 1 to 1 copies of Justis cases. They show the influence of the style with the visual decoration being the primary link. As time goes by I will incorporate more of the tooling patterns and lid styles. On some cases I will replicate the different strap patterns that Jay did.

Chris has also complied a nice page highlighting some Justis cases. And while there aren't any dated all the back to 1989 when you say you started the earliest work shown definitely is a little closer to Flowers than your absolutely distinct style now. Perhaps you could share some pictures of your earliest work and discuss what you took from Flowers cases that you liked and what you didn't and why. That would be very educational and interesting. http://www.palmercollector.com/JackJustis.html

Here are a few that I am pretty sure were posted on AZ previously.

I think that the similarities to Justis cases are striking and it really shows off the diversity of Jay Flowers cases.

Cases look real nice. Are they made in China?

Yes they are. They are made in my small workshop and in the Jiasen Cue Case factory.

They are made with care and attention to detail by the excellent craftsmen and craftswomen that work for myself and Jiasen.

For more information on myself and what we do please visit www.jbcases.com

To see Jiasen's work please visit this link and browse some of the great cases they are doing. http://www.jbcases.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2602

Here are two cases that were made in China by Jiasen and really stands out and give you a greater impression of Jiasen's abilities, obviously these are well beyond the cases in this thread and the price reflects that:
