Folks Asking About Tips Used By Pros

Cue and tip questions are my favourite.

They help me Identify fakes on here from real players.

Real players are clueless about any cue or tip outside of the one they use or outside of one or two others.

‘What do you think about the ‘xyz’ cue.? Unless they have used it for 3 months everyday with the exact same tip as on their previous cue they are just faking it

What tip does player ‘a’ use? Doesn’t matter. How does he shape it? How old is it?

If Ronnie OSullivan has used an Elkmaster for 25 years...how does it possibly matter? He changes it twice a year maximum and Sources the same box of tips.
O'Sullivan himself has said that he's changed tips as often as FIFTEEN times in one tournament.

These days, the natural progression will be that someone will start a poll to determine whether people favor this type of thread and then someone else will start a thread objecting to that poll after which someone will start a "why can't we all get along?" poll, after which someone will start a thread to ask the moderators to remove this entire set of threads.

Honestly, it's a perfectly normal and natural progression in these AZB parts. So where's the problem?

Let's all have some patience with the uneducated, information seeking , uninformed ; who may in fact end up being the future of this sport.

This is pretty much my way of thinking.

I too roll my eyes when I see threads about which cue/CF shaft/tip/chalk/rack, etc. is best. I know full well that poster is going to get more varying answers than he can shake a stick at.

I scroll past these threads for the most part, but every now and then I'll reply with a recommendation simply because members are recommending a higher-cost option than the OP really needs (i.e. a $1,000 custom cue for a beginning player).

Another thing: The person wanting to know what cue so-and-so uses simply may be a case of that person liking the cue for its looks rather than thinking it will make him a better player. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Regardless, there is no point to rudeness. Don't open the thread if you don't have something worthwhile to share.

Lol I'm the one that started the Josh filler tip thread. I wasn't asking "what's best." I just wanted to know what he was using because I wanted to try a new tip and I figure why not try what one of the best is using?

Seems unreasonable not to just answer the question if you know or ignore if you don't and let the thread drop down the page. But I figure there's a lot of old curmudgeons on here that like to make their opinions known, which is just as annoying to me

For pretty much my whole adult life I carried a pistol for a living. For eighteen years I was a combat pistol instructor. I believe I was successful because I never treated anyone's question as stupid. I would give the best answer I could and would explain when for other reasons there might be other valid points or views.

I was always happy with a 5 or 6 shot S&W revolver. I knew I could hit what I wanted to. But admiring some guys $3,000. race gun would put a recruit at ease making training easier. No sense to insult and create tension. And it's good for the industry.

So many come on here complaining about the death of pool halls, but jump at the chance to insult bangers, buckets, Valleys anything they consider under their level. That is not the way to grow pool. Starting off on little tables with big pockets is the way to grow the game.

Yeah, I support Nullus view 100 percent.

In 2020, people think that their opinions matter or should matter to others. I think the whole social media giving everyone a voice stuff is partially to blame.

In fact, some people feel that their thoughts are so 'right', that everyone else who doesnt agree with their favorite brand of horseshit is somehow a dumbass.

Its phase two of idiocracy. :duck:

If one misfires with a 45-should they look down the barrel to see if They can spot the trouble?

that's my choice too...I usually need to scuff after about 8-10hr of play.

Not sure if it matters, but I generally hit the balls way too hard- I am a masher, can't help it- and have been known to break with the same cue I am playing with.

I should probably do it more often. I use a tapper.

I got that a lot , I am still kinda new here but I really like talking shop and Cues are my fav topic on here to talk about , Some Members have been very nice and some on the other end of the spectrum as Jack Asses. But I don't pay much attention to them , They problay have more issues than answering topics on here . I am sure the Therapist has discussed this behavior with them before. Slow learners lol. But I try to help as much as I can , If I see a topic I do not like I just don't click on it , works so far !! Not that I am to Lazy to use the search function but I wanted to talk with the Members here on the forum now and maybe get to know a few of them. The search brings up stuff but mostly it is older from a few years ago. A post does not cost anybody on here a dime so why whine about it .

I honeslty think there are so many Tips available for sale on the market in 2020. I wonder how much difference there really is between most of the Tips.

Just packaging, marketing, and hype.

Some people just go with an old stand by like a LePro.

My favorite old standby, as a Tiger Hard Layered Tip. Problem is Tiger discontinued that Tip.

I've always wondered what tip Jon Henessee uses. Does anyone know?

The OP red-repped me for this one.

Lighten up, Nullus...it was a joke.

Hell Nullus, the guy I was poking fun at (Nostroke) green-repped me for that comment and said LOL.

My day is totally shot to hell.

Quite a rant

You want folks to be helpful and friendly but you throw around phrases like "Captain Obvious" and "Smartass".

You might want to start your own site so you can control who answers and what they say?
