SECOND :
I'm very very very very very very very very bad in safety shots :banghead:
I want many drills to be able to apply safety shots perfectly ?

THANKS SO MUCH and i'm sure u'll help me

Using side english with follow or draw is a difficult task at the least. IMO you have to practice and learn from the practice to appreciate how much difference with short, medium and long shots.

You have to adjust (think THICKER or THINNER aim points) for deflection/squirt of the cue ball after it is struck by the cue tip.

As far as safeties.... if you can't get out when you are at the table, look for a shot that will hide the cue ball from the object ball where your opponent will have a low percentage shot at even hitting the OB and give you BIH.

thanks

but i want some drills in follow and safety shots to work on them every day ???

Follow drills

Put balls on the spot and set cue ball up at an angle going into the end rail toward the first diamond inside of the corner pocket (along the end rail). Practice shooting the ball with inside or running english in order to make it go 2 rails. Once you are comfortable pocketing the ball, and following two rails to the middle of the table, try and force follow and go 3 rails, and eventually 4. Experiment with this and see how you are doing and how your stroke is progressing.

After you are comfortable with that, line a few balls the width of the table across the diamon just above side pocket, with the cue ball on the line of the diamond below the side. Practice shooting the ball with high english into the corner and coming one rail, off the end rail back down the length of the table (force follow). Once you figure out aiming and deflection, lengthen the shots out and the idea is to eventually shoot from the "kitchen" line and pocket the ball forcing the cue ball one rail the length of the table.

One tip, when shooting balls with follow, pick out a high aiming point on the object ball. Good luck.

I suggest buying either "Play Your Best Pool," by Phil Capelle, or "The Pro Book" by Bob Henning. They're chock full of drills, complete with diagrams.

Personally, I can't stand doing drills. I either play the one pocket or nine ball ghost, or play with someone. I need to feel like I'm trying to win, rather than just make this shot 1 billion times.

=)

Take any three balls like the 7,8 and 9 scatter them out the get cue ball in hand and and just practice shootings safteys.. on yourself.. Robert Byrne's tape "Power pool workout" is a great resource for drills.. =)

I think the most important part of learning to play safe is knowing exactly where the cueball is going to go.

This was taught to me and it made playing safe SOOOO much easier.

Some drills I like to do:
Find the cueball path using the system and park the cueball behind the two leaving the 1 ball uptable

Try to stop the cueball behind the 2 and send the 1 ball around the table

This a game where you can practice your safety shots with another person. You have to play safe every time until the other person cant hit their ball and you get ball in hand. Then you can shoot one ball in and play safe again. You are using nine balls in this game. I played this game with my buddy for awhile and both of our safety game went up immensely. Good luck man

There are links to lots of good drills here:

Good luck,
Dave
