Shoot...don't talk
Silver Member
Am I crazy or is there an error in the credits
relating to characters in the movie? I'm intentionally
being vague to see if anyone else noticed this.

Thanks
Joe

The credits say Grady was Dud but I
think Dud was a black guy. I believe
Ted was the name of the guy that talked
about the road trip and played nine ball
against Paul Newman. Am I wrong here.

...you are wrong.

Grady Matthew's character was "Dud"...as evidenced when Newman walks in..puts a $100 bill on the rail, and a guy at the bar says "Call Dud" ... next scene, Newman is playing Grady.

The black character in that bar -played by Forest Whitaker- was named Amos...as in "you a hustler, Amos?"

The tall black short stop at Chalkies was Moselle...as in "him you stay away from"

The black gentleman running Chalkies was Orvis...and,

The black gentleman who was the whale at Chalkies was "Earl"

Ok, got that pretty straight, but, I thought Pee Wee Herman was also in COM.

As in, "You a Hustler ain't you Pee Wee".

"I know you are but what am I"?

BJ,
My hearing isn't what it used to be but I thought
the bartender was asked to call "Ted" after the 100 is
placed the table. My captioning says "Ted" was to
be called. So how do you hear it? It seems to me that
Ted is a lot more likely name than Dud. Dude maybe,
but Dud? I don't know squat about making movies, is
it possible the credits are wrong?

I hear "Ted" , what do others hear?

Thanks
Joe
