What wood do you think give the best hit to a cue. Thanks for your info.

If you want a cue that has a lively feeling hit. Then Maple is the best choice in my opinion. Ebony has a flatter hard feeling hit. Cocobolo has a decent feel and sound that is pleasing. It falls somehwere between Maple and Ebony as far as how lively the hit is. Purple Heart and Bocote land in between Cocobolo and Maple. So there is no "best", until you decide what playing charactoristics are most important to you.

Tight-grain maple, any rosewood, bloodwood and bocote imo.

Ebony and Goncalo Alves are my favorites for the type of hit I like.

I like un-cored balsa wood. It's a little tough to break with though.
