The single most important thing
in Pool is your BRAIN. Use it properly, and you can become a champion. Use it improperly, and you will always be a hack, or somewhere along the continuum to being a champion.
I agree that there is too much 'junk' in threads usually, but you have a wide array of posters here, and any number might need a diversion of some kind on any given day, hence the attempts of humor in threads.
Staying on topic is a good thing, but, sometimes, hard to do.
Now, about your spelling and punctuation .... LOL and yes, it's true, I have a pretty good idea what type of Pool player you are by your attention to details you make when posting ....

well since i feel bad of you duke, i'll let you in on a lil secret.
unbeknownst to the lurkers, the regular posters bond and develop a friendship with each other, and most of the posts on the forms is a way for friends to chat and interact with each other.
therefore, when another boring WHOS BETTER?? SVB OR MOSCONI IN HIS PRIME LOLCOPTOR thread turning into a stale dead thread, it becomes a place for friends to gather and talk to each other.
basically, you have to be a member to fully understand the sociological nature of it all so by virtue of you being a lurker you will think most of the threads here are "pointless" and "non sequitor"

Unfortunately when you use phrases like STFU and words? like friken along with exaggeration to make a point the message gets lost for the most part...

I agree that rep points are fairly meaningless.
I think a forum is for information and discussion also there is often a social aspect to these forums.
If you are looking for "just the facts" perhaps there is a better place to find that.
I also agree that a thread can get cluttered with what is to me useless and sometimes even annoying posts.

I'm thinkin' of givin' the OP some rep, not because I agree with anything he said, but because his post resulted in a pretty entertaining thread, which is mostly why I am here. I do occasionally need an answer to a semi-legitimate question but I really come for the entertainment so....THANKS

I'm not asking the entire forum to change. BUT, it's not like I'm new to the forum game! I understand that there are "cliques" here, just like there are anywhere. It would just be nice if people would be somewhat in line in their posts. I can understand that there are posts that don't matter to me (or threads for that matter), but when it's an entire thread I can easily just avoid it. Not that I necessarily do (when it's a thread), but it would be nice to have the option (when it's just a post in an otherwise useful thread).
I don't necessarily mind the talk between members, but when I am reading a thread on how to break better, I really don't want to find 10 posts between two people talking about playing in a tourney. I really think that everyone can relate to that!
I may have been too harsh in my original post, but that was because it was too frustrating...it was the straw that broke the camels back! I really have been here a long time, and it took FOREVER to finally get access!
You can take me as what you like, but I assure you that I am not alone in thinking that this forum needs people that will post relevant to the title of a thread. Not only that, but will bash people for posting off topic until people understand that there are PM's for that.
By no means should you change for me. Change for other reasons if necessary. But I assure you that I do have some idea of how to play this game, and if I would like to share what I know...I would like to know that it isn't lost in a thread that is filled with off-topic subjects. I'm sure that there are many that know more than me and feel the same way! I won't call myself a master of any games, but I know enough to share with most of the members of this forum.
I am what I am, and that's all that I am! If you don't like it, there is a negative rep button right beneath my post!!! Use it, I'm sure that Mr. Wilson will gladly dispatch of me! As far as I'm concerned, I have just said what alot of people have been thinking...for far too long!

Just look at the funny pic/gif thread its the most popular thread ever and it has nothing to do with pool. Or the why did the chicken cross the road thread that one is just jokes too, and it also is popular.

i wasnt yelling i accidently had the caps button on,
i really appericate your efforts to change everything here, but perhaps you should start from scratch with your own board, you could really measure your success buy being the supreme leader of your very own board, isnt a better thing for you, why fix someone elses board when you can start your own? Don't make other problems your own. If I had what you do I'd start my own board.
I'm pretty new to this board, so, JMHO as a "newbie". I find this entire site to be informative, entertaining and I've bought two really great cues here. This board has all the intrigue one would enjoy in a good movie. It is far better than watching television. I find myself busting with laughter over many of the threads, shaking my head over the flamers, high jackers etc. People being people, that's what happens here. I, for one, think it is just fine the way it is.........again, JMHO...........
