Forum Players Claim To Be 1P Players...

An interesting point

Why would anybody write a book about a subject that they know little to nothing about? More importantly, why would they expect that anybody would read it?
The road to hell is paved with good intent!

He's a brother in pool.

Whaddya gonna do?

Non pool players are more likely to watch paint dry or grass grow. Good players of rotation games or 8-ball are more likely to watch one-pocket on streams or videos IMO. Some might be interested in learning, learning more (like me) and some might be interested because players they like are competing. It's been my favorite game on the pool table to play and watch for many moons as it incorporates shooting, banking, safety play and risk/ strategies which can shift during a game.

He’s working on a project

Please be kind and help him.

He really means well, he’s passionate about this project. It can be slightly incorrect or fictional it’s not a documentary.

Go easy boys, Guy is old and health isn’t 100%.

Thanks

Guilty. Guy.. I apologize for some of my uncalled for postings. I can be an asshole but hopefully not malicious. Good luck with your writings. Express yourself. As for 1p. It is a puzzle. It never gets mastered. It brings out creative shot making. It opens the mind. Concentrate or sink. Me.. I enjoy playing a high level player. I’m not supposed to win. I put up a battle until I lose control.

He’s 80 and never played one pocket? How can that be?

Guy , there are many terms like - high karate-tighten the bank-hide them in the stack, etc.
A dummies guide to 1 pocket should have a glossary of terms and explain them.

I mention One Pocket to people, many saw never heard of it.

Like Bank Pool.

Lots of people never seen Banks. Saw it first time in 68 in bar that GM Worker were playing.

I ask what is that game, and told Banks.

Friday was pay day, and many of the GM guys were gambling on Banks.

Right.. so you're not actually writing a book, you just want to copy and paste posts from azb.

this reminds me of an idea to collate/edit "the best of azb" into an actual book
if it were done well, I think such a book would be as good as any other out there
of course a comprehensive volume would take a lot of work to put together
but a lot of the work (the actual writing) is already done..just gotta organize it
maybe for azb 20th anni (has it already passed?) we could do something..
a little booklet that could be used to promote pool, like guy seems to mean
do a kickstarter, raise some money for the forum, get the good word(s) out, etc...

Problem is Mike Howerton is already swamped with work.

So this project would be mucho work.

Don’t think this book idea will flying anytime soon.

i think it would be reinventing the wheel... winning one pocket, shots moves and strategy, tom wirth .... its enough ... once you know the basics the rest is creativity

and the plethora of youtube divas

In my opinion, if you want to help the "non playing" learn anything, whether it's 1P, 8Ball, 9ball, 14.1, or 10ball, the very first thing you should do, is direct them to AZB.
If they have any sort of inkling, they'll stick around, read, and hopefully learn a thing or two.

Maybe you could assist in helping them create a user name, or how to use the search function.

Just out of curiosity, who directed you here? That may be a better story to tell.

no doubt, I wouldn't put it all on mike- was thinking it could be more of a volunteer/forum collab
