I'll probably not get any replies to my post. Every time I click something on this forum this morning, it hangs for a long time.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I don't think it is my server, as all the other websites I have visited this morning come up in the normal way.

There is a message that comes up at the bottom left-hand corner when I click a link on the forum that says adserver-dot-azbilliards-dot-com.

The blue page comes up with the AzBilliards logo on the top left-hand corner, but there are no ad banners coming up.

I think the slowness problem has something to do with the ad banners now, but I may be wrong.

the forum normally runs about half the speed of light for me.

right now, its running about half the speed of smell.

very slow for me as well.

I actually like the forum better *without* the ad banners, but I'm sure AzHousePro may have a different opinion :D

I take that back. I actually do *not* like the forum better without the ad banners, because it's too doggone slow.

Bring back the ad banners!

So, you received a reply in the end.... Hehe

Very, very slow for me at 9:25 am.:(

The main page with all the news at azbilliards-dot-com has the same slowness with a long hang.

Something is wrong with the advertising banner software, I think.

Well, the ad banners are back, and the forum is back up to speed. Whew!

Sean to tech support: "My customer's Internet feed is down -- the T3 link (45Mbit/sec.) is showing a huge amount of CRC line errors on the router interface."

tech support: "Is the router powered on? Do you see illuminated LEDs?"

Sean to tech support: "Yes, the router is powered-on, and yes, I see illuminated LEDs. How else am I going to notice CRC errors on the Internet interface, if I need to login to the router to begin with to see those CRC line errors?"

tech support: <seemingly ignores the fact that they have a somewhat knowledgeable consultant on the phone, and proceeds to the next bullet item in their "script"> "Have you tried powering-off and powering-on the router?"

Sean to tech support: "Normally I'd be able to do that, but the problem is that this router serves other duties as well, and powering it off and on again will interrupt those other duties that, honestly, are working just fine. Besides, CRC line errors come from the *line* itself; they are normally not caused by the router -- especially if no changes were done to that router and it'd been working fine for months."

tech support: "Well, we don't see any problems on our end. Everything seems to be fine. We really need you to reboot that router."

<...this goes back and forth, and Sean hears a lot of typing in the background from the tech support...>

Suddenly, the CRC line errors disappear, and the Internet feed is working again!

Sean to tech support: "What did you just do? The CRC errors are now gone, and the Internet link is up again!"

tech support: "We did nothing. You must've done something on your end, because we're waiting on you to reboot your router."

Sean to tech support: "I told you -- I *can't* reboot this router nor do anything with it, because this router has other production duties besides Internet access, and I'm not allowed to disturb those duties. Did you do maintenance on the line last night, and it just needed a reset to clear things up?"

tech support: "We didn't do anything."

Sean to tech support: "Well, whatever it was you say you did or didn't do, please don't do it again."

The hosting company AZB uses is moving into a new datacenter today.

That's the prob. Relax -- it'll resolve itself.

Man! I'd hate to be a tech support and have Sean on the phone.
It would feel like not recognizing Mosconi and trying to tell him about
his stance.

Sooo.... "You think I should move my right foot back a bit?"
"How would you like 300 balls going to 500?"

Actually Paul, that's a very common tech support phone skit. A lot of us have printed versions of this hanging in our offices/cubicles, for fun purposes. We've all at one time did tech support, so we recognize the sometimes mindless nature of the "script" that their system forces them to go through.

Have you ever seen the "How Projects *Really* Work" skit?

It's very funny, because although it's making fun, the concepts are so true!
