Found a cure for aging eyes

I am 89 years, still have a very good stroke, lots of knowledge, but my sight has been deteriorating because of age. I tried playing with eye glasses, but lost depth perception and had tunnel vision. So for the first time in my life I was accepting losing games which goes against my competitive spirit. My friend Brian(Kicken Chicken), showed me his new Bill Curran Optical billiard glasses and they were impressive, great quality and workmanship. But our prescriptions are not the same, so it was difficult to decide. I called Bill Curran and he was patient and explained his design, which made sense to bring the proper correction to the top of the lens, so when were bending the cueball and object ball are needle sharp. I did order a pair of his glasses. They arrived in one week and with shaking hands I opened the package and tried the glasses. They are light as a feather, needle sharp and contrasty. Ran to the poolroom to put them to the test and they were
perfect . I felt like a kid of sixty. I played for hours and never felt tired. If anyone is having vision problems, please contact, William Curran Opticians, 610-623-4129.

After trying all the pool glasses on the market I decided to get contacts.

Oh my....what a difference.
But anyone thinking about getting contacts they should know it takes a while to get used to them.
You should wear them an hour a day for the first few days and then two hours, then three etc.
Hardest part for me was to put them in at first. That was a few months ago and what used to take almost an hour and caused an eye infection cause I kept dropping the darn things in the faucet is not taking about half a minute at the most.
World of difference and I highly recommend it.
1800-contacts has been my best friend. They are amazing and it's so easy to just take a picture of your prescription on the phone and upload it to your account on your phone app. Then the contacts are there two days later.

Bingo. Contacts changed the the world for me. No more damned glasses while playing. If you wear glasses and are constantly adjusting them on your face please at least try contacts. Once you get through the initial stage difficulty of putting them in, they are a joy. I just pop them in now and away I go to the poolroom.
I have an astigmatism in one eye and my glasses are bifocals. They do amazing things with contacts nowadays and a year's supply costs me $300. Well worth it not to wear glasses while playing and seeing clear as a bell.

When it's an option, LASIK is even better than contacts. Wear contacts for 30+ hours in a smokey pool room and tell me what your eyes feel like when you take the lenses out.

I guess what I'm saying is... LASIK will play the glasses/contacts race to 7 winner.

Anything that makes you see better and adds time to enjoy the game is a good thing. Glad the glasses are working for the OP!

In all seriousness, I can vouch for these glasses doing a very good job. They may be a bit more $$$ than some others but it's like the old saying goes; you get what you pay for.

These are titanium frames, Crizal lenses, and Bill Curran knows what he's doing regarding your prescription and fitting them to you.

Lens implants worked great for me. Mine are flexible and allow me to focus a different distances, within reason.
 
LASIK is a easy fix if you do not want to wear either glasses or contacts. However, it's about a $2,000 - $5,000 expense and there's no going back once it's done. I have been wearing glasses for pool for more than ten years. I did try contacts but never found any that were comfortable. All the drops and disinfectants the putting them in and out all became a pain in the ass. So I stuck with my glasses. The one recommendation I have for wearers of glasses is to upgrade to Trivex lens material. Get a scratch coating and an anti reflective coating as well. I have found the Trivex material to be far better than standard polycarbonate and it seems clearer and better for scratch resistance. Here is a link comparing the two materials.
