Myself and another player and our wives are heading to France in May. Our itinerary includes Paris, Normandy, Loire Valley, and Bordeaux. Are there any French players who would like to meet up? Any first rate places in France for pool or snooker you may have know?

Tate, believe it or not, you can use Yelp to find places to play in France.

Last time I was there (Paris), we walked by a couple of places that looked interesting. Unfortunately, that's when I felt a hand clamp on to my ear to keep me moving.

If you are into nostalgia, do not miss, in Paris, the billiard room on Montmartre which is near the Place Clichy. You pop out of the subway and cross the Place Clichy and head up the street maybe one or two blocks. If you walk to the famous church called Sacre Coeur, you are on the right street. The name of the joint is Academie de Billard. Here is its URL:

It now has pool tables---sadly! The old order changeth. The first time I was there, it had only billiard tables, and you really expected men in frock coats and silk cylinder hats to pop out of the woodwork.

It is, perhaps, not the friendliest room in the world, but it's a must-see.

Thanks guys, great info. My wife and I have been to Paris many times, but our friends have not. That room in Montmarte is perfect! We are going to Montmarte one evening. The women will definitely hang out with us at a place like this. My friend is a good pool player and is into gambling too, so this is perfect!

FYI the Paris Billiard Academy in Montmarte is not a billiard parlor anymore. It's a card room. We went there on a recent trip and the pool tables are gone.

Just for future reference in case somebody else goes there.
