If you are into nostalgia, do not miss, in Paris, the billiard room on Montmartre which is near the Place Clichy. You pop out of the subway and cross the Place Clichy and head up the street maybe one or two blocks. If you walk to the famous church called Sacre Coeur, you are on the right street. It now has pool tables---sadly! The old order changeth. The first time I was there, it had only billiard tables, and you really expected men in frock coats and silk cylinder hats to pop out of the woodwork.
It is, perhaps, not the friendliest room in the world, but it's a must-see.
