Can anyone give me info on Frank Tallos? I have taken 3 lessons with him and he plays good. He said he use to be on the tour, Years ago. I asked Sammy Jones about him and he said he hsan't seen him for years. He is on Jimmy Reid's website and has several nice pool rooms in NC.

Hey fast Davie that is Frank Tullos and he has rooms in Maryland also I think, he stayed around Raliegh NC most of the time back a few years ago when playing in tournaments with a friend of mine Anthony Arney. I haven't seen him around Charlotte in about 2 years.

Leonard

PS Frank also traveled to several of the large airports where he owned stores selling crystal and glassware from north to south

There'll be a story about Frank in my book. He came out to L.A. to visit me (from Cincy where he grew up) many, many years ago and to see what the action was like. Without telling the entire story here, let me just say Frank took it off big time. We made a telephone number score that got me in trouble later.

Frank is a great guy and was one of the best unknown players for years. He was busy making a living when he was young. He became a force on the Senior Tour when he hit 50. He got back into the pool business later in life. I think he told me he had as many as four pool rooms at one time.

Please tell him I say Hi.

Once I visited his room in winton-salem, NC. Don`t tell this to anybody and this is between you and me- I heard that one time he played my Diva allison fisher and she crushed him.If my memory serves me well this thing happened in Boone, NC.

Allison has crushed quite a few men in local tourney's......Tommy Kennedy, Brian Groce, Ron Parks, Stevie Moore, Tony Watson are just a quick few that pop into memory.;)

Doesn't he still own Breaktime out on Jonestown Rd. in Winston-Salem? I used to live right around the corner ('98 - '00) and would play there about 8 days/week. I remember seeing him there doing everything from running the bar to playing $1k sets.

I haven't been back there since I left Winston-Salem so my information might be outdated.

Years ago during the Johnston City days he was a very talented up coming player that easily would run over 100 in 14.1 and was a ball under most of the best during that time. Back then he got into a bad car accident and Steve Cook purchased his Balabuska, Steve used that cue for most of his life since the late 60's.

I tire of this type of post. "Old out of stroke great player losing to young in stroke great player usually 1/2 their age." The great players of the past will at least 'get up' off the chair for some tough action, and if they smooth out the situation can change quickly.

Ain't it the truth. You don't see 'em getting on their cell phones attempting to get the lowdown on any prospective action player either in order to decide on whether they want to gamble with them or not.

Rather, the veterans just step up to the plate, and may the best man win! :p

Tap Tap Tap. We don't need no stinking cell phones! :) It isn't too hard to find out how someone plays. Run a rack or two, and you will find out quick.

I remember him traveling north to Virginia to compete in the then-Falcon Cue 9-Ball Tour in Sterling, Virginia. He won the event!

Here's a picture from the now-Tiger/Planet Pool 9-Ball Tour website. This picture was taken in 2003 when it was the Falcon Cue 9-Ball Tour of Frank Tullos accepting his winnings: http://planet-pool.com/images/event_pics/First_Break_Jul03/frank_tullos.jpg

LOL! :D He's a jolly-looking soul in that picture, isn't he?

As I remember, when he was in the pit, his demeanor was one of determination, but at the same time, he was cool, calm, and collected! :p

I have a story that happened about 16years ago. Lil' tony and Frank matched up at Bakers poolroom. It was a race to 9 for 500. Well Frank won and when they went to pay the pooltime Tony asked Frank if he would pay the time. Well Frank told him if he wants to be a big time player he would have to learn how to pay for his own time. I thought wow! what a jerk.
Anyway Tony got his in the end. Tony went around to everyone there and asked if they wanted to post up another set for him to play. Of course everyone went in with him but this time the set was for 1,000. To make a long story shorter....Tony busted Frank and when they went to pay the time guess what....Tony got to use the same line back on old Frank. LOL!! I will never forget it. Frank was pissed! LOL!!
All in all though Frank is a good player.

Take it easy and enjoy reading the posts. No one said that frank did not know how to play pool.Just reporting the result of a match up.By the way how are u hitting them these days? I have not seen you for more than 12-14 years.

I saw Tony Watson beat Frank a few years later at Moreys Billiards in a southeast TKfromFLA 9ball final and Tonys wife at the time said when Tony sank the last 9 don't shake that sob's hand pat him on the f--n head like the dog he is. The crowd watching went crazy and Frank left real quick and Tonys wife said Frank had stiffed Tony on the last set and was told to leave his poolroom imediatly. Who knows the real deal?

I just saw Frank in Greensboro,NC. While there he showed me his new car, a brand new "Lamborgini Gallardo". I took a pic of it, but, I should ask him before I upload it.

I also was at the tourney in Greensboro and talked to Frank. He seems to be doing alright and still owns a couple of pool rooms...Im not trying to get into it with anyone but lil Tony isnt an angel either if you know anything more about him than his pool game.
Just my .02
