Freddy the Beard - Banking with the Beard

During my stay at Derby, I heard there was a clinic with Freddy the Beard about banking and I thought 'now that name sounds familiar...' And I remembered this said by Louis Ulrich - US Pro Pool Player with high finishes at 2007 US open 5th, Turning Stone IX 2nd, and attended World 8 ball Championship 08 at UAE representing USA.

(I ease dropped as he was talking to his brother Josh Ulrich, who is another great player)

Louis: Ya, know this sounds corny, but you know who REEEALY knows about banking?

Josh: Umm, who?

Louis: Freddy the Beard! I just watched his DVD and it all makes sense. It's only $ (I forgot the amount) but it's really worth it and I highly recommend you to at least get his book if you don't want to buy the DVD...

*** Disclaimer: Louis Ulrich or Josh Ulrich was not hired by Freddy the Beard. ***

So I thought, what's to loose? I'm here and he's here and then I find out my husband has signed up for his class as well... Hmm, I think I will see what all the craze is all about.

Next day in his class he had prepared some pages from his book and it was easy to follow, even for someone like me:grin-square: I have extremely short attention span:sorry: it's dehibilitating...

My banks were all by feel and usually worked out pretty good, when I am confident, so I didn't exactly have the fundamental basics... so when the pressure amounts and I start to miss, I don't know what I did wrong or what I need to concentrate to get it back. During the class Freddy pointed out few very basic laws of banking and it did struck some nerve - it's a complement:thumbup:

He also pointed out how to recognize double kiss of bank shots and what you can do to avoid if possible. My husband was ecstatic with that knowledge and he talked about how valuable information that alone is for the rest of the day.

All and all I was pretty impressed, and told my lazy ass to read his book as soon as I can:smile:

I bought both the book and the DVD of Banking with the Beard. Wish I'd caught up with Freddy to have them autographed by the master himself.

SD,
Errrr......better to memorize the book than to just read it. Then get his second book.....memorize it too....JMO (assuming you want to kick your husband's rear on the pool table like everyone else in the Lower 48).

First book = Banking with the Beard
Second book = The Gospool According to the Beard (or something like that)

If you CAN memorize all the stuff in Freddy's book you can do anything! Some of the best if not the best ever written about bank shots. I still go back and look them over from time to time and still learn new info. I make banks all the time as a direct result of his books!

Thanks. I've been living under a rock and playing pool by myself. I realize I can steel these giants' years of knowlege for a nominal fee:)

I should had borrowed their wisdom years ago...But, it's not too late for me:wink:

The info in freddy's material is priceless and the best money I've ever spent on my pool game.

I learned a lot from his materials and I live in "bank country"

Never!

I knew Freddie was "great at banks and one pocket" when in the late 80's, I saw a 10X12 picture of him 1000 miles from Chicago, next to a picture of Steve Mizarak in a Florida pool room.

When I ordered Freddys book I pm'd asking him to please sign it  It is a great book with outstanding systems, and my banking has improved tremendously as a result. I highly recommend the book to anyone with a desire to learn and improve (of course you have to practice his solutions, not just read the book, but that's the fun part). I am very jealous of those lucky enough to attend a clinic from the master himself ... but I do have his autograph :p
