I am wondering how long some of these sponsors on some of these free streams stay sponsors. It's nice to have free streams for viewers, but not if they are bad. Johnnyt

*****ing about something free...... welcome to AZBilliards newcomers...... Land of the disputatious, home of the ungracious.

In this day and age of streaming, why bother to put up an unwatchable stream? While your taking shots at me, do you throw $5, $10, 0r $20 to the streamer if it's good, like I do? I bet not. Now do me a favor STFU. Johnnyt

Youre a bitter angry little man. Most people dont ***** about anything free in this world. They just say thank you and accept it for what it is. But I know that talking about things in a positive light must be hard for you, you do very little but whine and complain.

What stream are you having issues with?

I hope you aren't knocking the Ginky stream because I have had no issue with it other than some very minor buffering once in a while.

But what about the question? How can sponsors be enticed to fund an unusable product?

Maybe johnnyt'is question had further reaching concern than his own monitor?

If a business chooses to advertise in any way that doesnt offer the best return on their advertising dollars, that decision (a poor one financially) is on them. Example, if you want to advertise a garage sale, you put an ad in the paper, and signs up at all the major intersections near your house. If you dont advertise it in the paper and only put signs up in your own yard, you probably wont get as much people traffic shopping through your stuff. Pool streams are the proverbial sign in the yard. You are advertising to people who for the most part already play pool, and most already have their own cues, cases, gear etc. In essence, they are trying to sell hamburgers to people who have already eaten dinner.
Streams in general (pay or free) probably arent the answer to pool succeeding in the future. Pool is a small niche market, with a very limited viewing audience. Right off the bat its a bad business model if youre doing it to make money.

There are many reasons why the stream you as the end user receive is bad and many times its the end users issue, not the streamer....

If you were a sponsor and tuned in to watch the stream and found it just about unwatchable...would you continue sponsoring that streamer? Finding sponsors is the biggest challenge for tounaments and streamers. There are not enough to go around as it is, and first ones you are going to lose are the ones that pay you the most. It's funny how I bought every TAR PPV and only had an issue with one, but everyone had an issue with that one. Johnnyt

I have an up to date i7 computer with 16gigs of memory, a very fast wired cable internet. I never have issues with live streams.... that is unless the stream is via Ustream, then it sucks consistently.

There you go. Problem solved. :)

Aloha

Here is one ray of hope for you. At least it is not in Black and White, even the worst stream today, would have to be better than any ABC wide world of sports events held back in the day. So I guess it could be worse.

Aloha

There are to many variables..the Internet connection he's using could be slow ... Your connection could be slow.. Your equipment could be slow. Last my friend said the stream for ginky was choppy but I watched it for hours on my iPad Air and it never stopped one time.

I am not. Johnnyt

What stream did you start this thread about? Or is this just you throwing something obvious out there to stir up a conversation? Again:D

Btw,It is obvious that if a streamer puts out a crappy product they will lose viewers and advertisers over time. Free stream or pay per view!

I wonder whether that is true. Yes, advertising on a stream is directly almost solely to people who play pool and have their own gear. However, that's exactly who I would want to advertise to if I sold pool stuff. Most of us here own multiple cues, cases, chalk, gimcracks and are the ideal market - someone who has shown a willingness to buy these products. Kinda like all those adds you see on Golf broadcasts for new clubs - I'm pretty that anyone who would buy them already has their own clubs.

For one thing, the "next big secret" is a hellavulot easier than actually practicing!

Gideon<---Sucker for pool gimgracks and the "next big secret"

I seldom ever have stream trouble. I have the fastest internet offered running on Apple products. Before I changed everything over to Apple I had problems also. No commercials and no virus's . Buy youurself an Apple TV and an iPhone
