free tAR vs PPV tAR

What an odd coincidence that the people that were available for the free feeds over the last few days (which consistently drew 500 viewers) all had prior commitments for tonight's PPV feed (which peaked at 58 viewers as the 10B began).

It's too bad all 440 of those people missed the opportunity to donate their measly $10 to the tAR cause. Oh well, I'm sure Chad & Justin are more than happy to continue negotiating the rights to haul in & set up all that equipment and establish the video service with the hotel & their ISP. From what I can see, they have strong backs.

Hey, they've made something like $600 so far. Surely that's covered their living expenses for the last few days, the cost of all that fancy equipment, the cost of the PPV feed,...,etc.

i think we should pay $10 everyday the PPV stream is much better than the free. can we keep the ppv for shane / henny

As much as I would miss the streaming I would understand if they just pulled the plug and walked away. If they contiue to do matches I hope they never have a free match again and if anyone is caught giving live updates of the PPV that they are banned from signing up anymore. This is just another reason pool players have a bad name. 60 paid users from the free that had 500 -1000 on it at all times...shame on you. Johnnyt

There have been some that have donated $ to TAR for doing the free feed. Others have bought thier merchandise/DVD's

I knew not as many would watch this match because it isn't as appealing to many people as two top male players.
Some of the people watching the free feed could also be minors, or just not have a credit card/paypal.

I agree that more should support those guys since they are doing more for pool promotion than most people would even dream of.

In a way they are lucky that they have the opportunity to make a difference as many people don't.
Who wouldn't want to be able to pay their bills doing something that they absolutely love. I think they have made a few thou a piece on Shane's matches as well.

I bet the Chohan VS Daulton and SVB VS Efren will have more viewers

I'd pay for the live feed LONG before I'd pay for the Webb/Rousey match...

Although I am sure you are spot on with your judgement, its unfair to base this on a PPV of a couple B/B+ players. No way I'd buy it. If the live feed and the PPV were both up for free, I'm sure you could guess where the most users would be...

I am pretty sure I am going to buy the Chohan/Daulton match. If I do not, I'll, at least, buy something off their site for the live feed.

I think the live action feed has a futeure. I'd pay for it EVERY time as long as it was not overpriced. Its one of the best pool products I have seen. The Frost/Chohan comentary was EXCELLENT!

Anyways, yeah, the 800 I saw won't be anywhere in sight for the other PPVs :( Hopefully TAR can make a little more dough on the live feed next time. Anybody who watched it this time will surely miss it if they don't buy it next time.

One more thing, they are B+ (A- maybe) players... deal with it before you attack me ;)

I bought the Webb/Rousey match pretty much as a donation, I might watch some of it but we'll have to see if it conflicts with Man vs. Wild scheduling

To be fair, many people just aren't interested in watching this match - I for one. I have supported TAR for every ppv at least one day/event and will sign up for the Chohan v Daulton match whether I watch much of it or not. Have faith that others will do the same. If I was around Wed night I would pay to see Shane & Hopkins play last pocket just because I have never seen it played by good players. Kinda sad I will miss it.

I do agree it's important for everyone that has enjoyed the free feed that they contribute in some way for their great effort (buying a t-shirt, dvd or ppv) but let them choose what event they want to watch.

I do urge ALL to support TAR in one way or another so we can continue to get this great coverage.

Dave

Pool lovers should enjoy the moment, at this rate of participation for paid events, this is not going to last.

The real test will be in the up coming ppv events.I myself will purchase some of them,I just hope the feed is better.:D

TAR should have just charged a fee for the feed we received for free. There would have been less people in and the quality would have been better.

While everyone likes a free lunch, most people do not mind paying for a good meal.

ill be supporting for the chohan/daulton and if any other good matches come up... jus not going to pay 10 and go through the hassle of plugging in my info n all for a match that has zero appeal.

Ppv

I payed the $10 for ppv went back and clicked the" access content "tab and got a blank screen that told me "if screen doesn't load click here" so i clicked here and got another blank screen!!! So then i thought well maybe my transaction didn't go through on pay pal. Stupid me (because i really did want to see this match and make a contribution to TAR) paid another $10 just to get another blank screen. From the chat i've been seeing on their free site and the thread in this forum, i'm not the only one that's been "HUSTLED" by TAR tonight. However, in all honesty, it has been great watching their coverage in the action room and i don't mind contributing. Just wish i could have seen the match. Don't know why i wasn't able to get it.

$10 isn't too bad of a fee and it's nice to see some live coverage that we wouldn't normally have. I would be curious how many of those watching the free stuff actually stayed on a considerable amount of time to justify paying for the service. I personally don't have the time to watch too much, but I might consider donating $10. I've also been considering that Van Boening vs Deuel race to 100 match they have on DVD.

Things I have liked about the free stream: the variety of commentators in the booth. I especially like Shawn Putnam's commentary.

Things I haven't liked about the free stream: the quality of the video. Is the PPV quality better? While the guys might be donating their time and expensive equipment, I'm not sure a fee is worth it if the video quality is not better or closer.

Does the fee cover one event or all of the PPV events together?

crav'in action

The same thing happened to me. Blank screen and paid two times via paypal for nothing. I feel like I got Screwed. I pm'ed jcin and email him but no response. Please theactionreport make this right. Thanks Wayne

While I'll agree that a lot of pool playing men don't like to watch womens pool the problem has been right from the start of the streaming. There were top men players matching up from the 1st time. The free got 5 times the users as the PPV. In most cases its the money. Donations to TAR are fine but who do you think is going to be doing the donating? The same ones that pay for the PPV now. So we pay double for it. Johnnyt

Johnny they have mentioned several times that since they just started doing this, many people don't know about it and the amount of people buying it will increase in time. Also any pool rooms that buy the PPV are paying 1 fee and having several others watch it free. That hurts them..

When they start making more $, the DVD prices will probably come down some and that would get alot of people to buy them that aren't now.

The bigger events have been over a 3 day period, which hurts them as well. Most people have jobs and can't watch because of this.

If the PPV feeds were recordable without hooking your laptop into your TV and putting it on tape, that would really increase the number of people willing to pay... Then they could watch the matches at their convenience

Hiring people to get out to all of the pool rooms and telling them about TAR may be the one thing they can do to increase sales the most.... of course what do I know, sales is all I have ever done

I agree with everything that you said above...but "not many people know about it yet" I say, when it's free they seem to find out about it just fine. johnnyt
