Frost vs Pagulayan UPDATES

8 ahead is a devastating format. Hope they will reach a conclusion without calling it quits for being tired. What is a largest difference so far?

I've been watching and the biggest lead I've seen so far is 4 ahead.

Eight ahead isn't really that much. These two are just very close in overall skill level. Scott has been the better mover, while Alex has been the better one rail banker. They have both missed some balls that were sell outs during runs. Alex has made a few horrific shot decisions to cost him games, and Scott lets his mind blow up whenever Alex starts to joust with him verbally.

If everyone(hyperbole) loves this 8 ahead format that is taking over 5 days, then why do people complain about race to 100's?

The race to 100 only gets exciting when it gets to the end, with the ahead set it could be over on any day so it keeps you tuned in watching as everyone has.

We are watching the two best in the world, this match is going to decide who is best. Win or lose both players played great and those who want to knock the guy who loses just remember there is nothing wrong with being second best in the world at something. How many of you are second best at anything? :grin-square:

anyone with the winning percentage when breaking?

Earlier someone had posted and it seems like it was around 9 out of 11 winner when breaking for each player... a very high percentage.

Yesterday it was tied twice, at 31 then again at 42.

These two champions were playing even after five days and 84 games; so it seems to me there is hardly any measurable difference between them when it comes to skill at playing one pocket.

However, someone could get tired, someone could get lucky, someone could lose focus or gain focus, and suddenly within a few hours the eight ahead finish line is in sight. Will a win establish one of them as the better one pocket player? Maybe for this prize this week, but there is plenty of one pocket left in both of them.

I just hope someone makes an edited version of the best of these games for sale, and leaves out the boring parts, the non-shooting parts, and half the up table nudging around. Alex is well known to play slow at times, so a speeded up version would be a better seller, especially if it had smart commentary. Editing for length is not new, I am thinking of the Ronnie Allen-Danny Deliberto match some years back, and that edited version was a very watchable DVD.

76-81

The heat is on......can Scott come back again?...stay tuned

Diggin' deep is what its all about. Road work is now coming into play. Having been the first American player to do Pure Road Work for five years all too improve long play hours, I was Extremely IMPRESSED when Mika won from the loser bracket first round loss at the US Open. Be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooog time before that ever happens again.

But Alex already dismantled Scott in the last 8 ahead not too mention won more tournaments

Isn't the discussion of Alex being better already proven ?
To me this is has proving that Scott is in the category and can hang with the best

What was the game score of the game that Alex just won to go up by 6?
Thanks in advance.

I agree with Texdance, a well edited dvd at a good price would be very interesting to me as well!

Alex +5

Alex had a shot to go up +7 but missed a long 12 ball. Very nice runout from Scott to get back within 5.

i would say that it all factors in. if they're both equal in shotmaking ability and strategy etc. but one has more endurance then that makes him the better player.

alternatively you can look at it like this, after 4 days of non stop play, scott has had maybe 2 leads of only 1 game after the first 10 games in this match. they may or may not be equal but alex has been in the lead for virtually the whole match which has to count for something.
