Solid...

That's a real classy cue Sly! I bet it's going to be a solid player, new owner will be lucky.

GLWYS! Brother, Happy holidays to you, yours and all.

Best,
Mo

So, another cue hot off the lathe. Not surprisingly, it doesn't compare to the last cue you advertised as such. Remember, it was the similar cue you posted an ad for 3 wks ago but sold out from under me in cutthroat fashion to 9ballsfearme, who cut in line ahead of me, & who you sold the cue to anyway, despite the fact that I had posted an interest in the cue the NIGHT BEFORE he sent you his PM. All because (1) I was new to AZ & didn't know what a PM was, so the only place I knew where to post was to your forum ad page, & (2) because I had the audacity to ask a few simple questions in my post before I committed. As I told you in the kiss off PM I sent you, most cue makers are arrogant jerks who lack the willingness & courtesy to answer a few questions before they sell a cue, even if it cost $1,000 or more. And you proved to be no exception. And obviously, you're both oblivious to the fact that line cutting is down there with looting. In case you doubt it, just try cutting off someone in a Black Friday line next year and see what happens. As for your cue in this current post, just as I predicted in my kiss off PM (which included my response to your offer to make me a cue), you could make another 50 bocote sneakys, & none of them would have color as good, a grain pattern as cool, & be as light (18.5 oz) as the one you screwed me out of. So it is no surprise that your cue in this current post is an uglier, heavier version of the cue I wanted. And for $125 more??? As I told you in my kiss off, because the odds of finding a bocote sneaky as beautiful & as light as the one I wanted (& with my preferred 3/8-10 & 13 mm, no less) are 1 in a million, I had been waiting 5 yrs for such a cue. But you chose to do me dirty. I'm sure all you Sly fans will think I'm a jerk for posting this message. But for those of you who have never heard of Sly, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

This is not Good. I think YOU should proceed with caution.

I don't think it's just going to be the "Sly fans" that are going to think this is in poor taste. I think just about any member with an IQ over 60 will think that. Had you accepted Mr. Sly's offer to make you a cue I am sure he would have more than made up for it. I do not know Mr. Sly but I can say that from his posts here and the way he conducts himself I would not hesitate to do business with him if I didn't already have a very good relationship with another cue maker.

Additionally, there are lots of very, very, nice pieces of Bacote available to make a cue that I'm sure you would have been satisfied with. It's not like it's say...... a certian species of Rosewood that is nearly impossible to find.

As to your comment regarding the weight of the cue you missed out on and not being able to be reproduced, I think your knowledge of cuemaking must be pretty limited if you think that. There are many techniques that can be employed to make a cue to the customer's desired weight. If you were so inclined I'm sure you could contact a number of competent cuemakers to make you a Bacote sneaky pete with a cool grain pattern and in a weight that you would like. Well....... ok, you may not be able to find a cuemaker to build it for you if they have seen your response in this thread.

And now onto my previously scheduled response to this thread.....

Per usual, this is a very nice offering from Mr. Sly and having owned one of his earlier cues and being satisfied with it, I wouldn't mind owning another at some point to try. I'm sure who ever gets this is sure to be happy.

What !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proceed with caution !! I believe you got another stalker ,,Damn Sly,, this guy wants one of your cues so bad he sends you kiss off pm"s ,,lol anyhow I dont think you not buying from Sly will hurt him very much. If you would take time to see how this forum or any buisness works,,First one that says they want the cue for sure gets the cue. If you ask any cue maker on here how many people ask questions after questions about cues and yet dont commit to buying. So why would someone waste time if they have someone right away that sends a message saying will take the cue .. And about Sly answering questions ,, he is and has been one of the most helpful cue makers on this forum. He will take his time and answer anything you would like to know. Then you said that he offered to build you a cue anyhow..but now you say about the wood type and he couldnt get anything to look like the cue you inquired about, im sure he goes thru so much wood stock or has access to so much that im sure he could get you something. First person that commits themselves to saying I will buy the cue gets the cue. Thats the way any cuemaker or buisnessman will work. I see your all lit up in red already and atb that rate you will never get into the green, so you may never get another cue on AZ anyhow after this ......TURN THAT WOOD SLY !!!!

Sir your not looking to buy a cue..you had the chance to buy the bocote sneaky i posted up a month ago and you never pulled the trigger, i answered all of your ???? you never once said you wanted to buy the cue!!! so the cue was sold to a real buyer...but i don't know who would ever want to sell you a cue after reading your pm...SO MORE RED FOR YOU.

A little info.
It is nothing new to have people ask questions about a cue that is listed.
That doesnt mean that they are going to buy..

Sometimes it gets hectic when 2 or more people are after the same billiard product. That happens every day in here!

Maybe you should just PM Mr Sly and tell him that you really want one of his cues.

You might also say that you are sorry .

Merry Christmas
MMike

I’ve never ordered a custom sneaky (vs buying one already made) because there’s no telling what it will look like until it’s done. I’ve seen coca & bocote sneakys that were beautiful, & others that were bland/ugly. Also, those denser wood sneakys are rarely 18.5 oz. So ordering a sneaky like those means dropping big $ on a cue, sight unseen. You could make another 50 sneakys like the one I missed & it wouldn’t look as good or weigh as light. Add in finding one already made that’s 3/8-10 & 13mm, & for $350, odds are 1 in a million. Over the yrs, every reseller I’ve contacted has been an asshole or crook. But cue makers have been worse. For some reason, they are like doctors, most of whom are offended by patients’ questions, even if the doctor is wrong. (In Jan of this year, an ER visit ****ed up my heart, but because I don’t have a previous image of my heart, I can’t sue them, & because my drs knew I had no way to prove the ****up, they refused to diagnose/fix me because it could have meant a lawsuit, so instead they left my heart near heart failure, while I’m out over $4,000 out-of-pocket on tests that cured nothing). Because of my experiences with cue makers & sellers, & because finding a coca or bocote sneaky light enough is so hard, I gave up searching. But late Thurs, Nov 29 (1:30 am Nov 30), I saw your sneaky & joined AZ to post a message to get first in line. After the yr I’ve had with my heart, it would have been great to end it with something good by finally getting the sneaky I’ve wanted for 5 yrs. But based on experience, I knew asking questions might ruffle another touchy cue maker. But I asked anyway, which, as I wrote in my post, was to avoid a return scenario. So I was first in line. But instead of putting me first & answering my questions, you sold it out from under me to 9ballsfearme, who posted to the forum over 5 hrs AFTER I did to say he sent you a PM & had first shot (I was new to AZ & didn’t know what a PM was). The next morning, I didn’t see a reply from you on the forum answering my questions, but I finally figured out I could send you a message directly, so I did, not knowing that such a message was a PM. In that message I asked you what a PM was. And do you know what your reply was? “The cue is sold.” So you didn’t even have the courtesy to answer a simple question & tell me what a PM was. What made your lack of an answer even worse was that you knew the PM issue was why you didn’t give me first shot (as you explained in a later PM). So I thought, “can this jerk go any lower?” And predictably you did, by posting a reply in the forum section (after the cue sold) offering to make me a cue, but ending it with “SOLD” in big red letters, as though to rub in that I had missed out. So I have some questions. First, why are on-line cue makers such arrogant prima donnas? Who in the hell do you think you are? You think because your product is in demand it gives you the right to be assholes? In case you haven’t noticed, you make cues. You’re not a first responder, you’re not wearing a uniform for our country, and you’re not performing life-saving surgery. As for you saying I lost out because I wasn’t first to send a PM or because I didn’t say “I’ll take the cue” in my post (vs asking questions first), that was the lame excuse of someone with no integrity. You don’t even know the meaning of the word. So I’ll try to explain it in terms your pea brain can understand. It means knowing the right thing to do & then doing it. And in this case, that would meant answering my questions to see if I wanted to buy. Were you afraid that if you did the right thing (I forgot, you don’t know what that is), I might not buy the cue & it would end up unsold? That would be a lie because custom cues fly off the shelf & you damn well know it. You also knew that if I hadn’t bought it, 9ballsfearme would have. No, you didn’t do the right thing because you have no integrity, because you lack the willingness & courtesy to take the trouble (& what trouble it would have been) to answer a few questions, & because you’re a greedy, inconsiderate ***** who couldn’t wait a few hrs to sell the cue. And speaking of 9ballsfearme, he has no more integrity than you. If he had any, when he posted after seeing that I posted interest hrs before he did, he would have posted, “Skeebs, I can see you’re new, so you probably don’t know what a PM is. It means sending a private message. I also want the cue, but because you showed interest first, I’m gonna send Sly a PM but you’re first in line.” That’s what I would’ve done. But that’s not what he did. Then after he got the cue, he posted again to rub it in. So just like you, he’s a cutthroat mother ****er. As for on-line cue makers, you need to take your heads out of your asses & grow the **** up. I haven’t felt this kicked in the stomach in years & I’ll never forget this, especially after a 5-yr search & the yr I’ve had. All thanks to a low-down piece of shit like you.

Sly ,,,,he should tell you how he really feels !! ROTFLMAO !!
I couldnt believe this,, somethings not right here someones got some issues...

You've been waiting 5 years for such a cue but only a member here for a month. I guess you weren't waiting here were you.

And what, Leon is suppose to be a FKn mind reader or something. He builds cues, not crystal balls. And speaking of Balls, you have a serious set of cajones to be talking trash like that on anyone's sale thread.

You have no idea who Leon is or what he does. He deals in some of the best wood you can find. If you had have been a bit more amiable and worked with him a bit, I am sure he would have dug you up a nice piece of Bacote just like you wanted. Maybe nicer. And he would have built it exactly to your specs. Thats why its called a custom cue. Leon has this nasty bad habit of building cues exactly like a customer wants them to be built.

But considering your childish temper tantrum, you're obviously one of the people that cue makers like to steer clear of no matter how much money is involved. So, you probably did Leon a favor more than anything.

You is veddy nice Cwismas red buddy.

Set up

Sounds like a set up, can't see getting this stupid over a cue. Sounds like someone just giving you a hard time for no reason. GLWS Sly, it's a nice looking cue. Best response is no response.

He goes from, I've waited 5 years for a cue like this to.

And in this case, that would meant answering my questions to see if I wanted to buy.

So you were asking questions because you were uncertain.

If it was the most perfect cue in your world, you should have jumped on it instead of asking questions.

Somebody else felt that they needn't ask questions, they jumped on it and got it. Thats the way it works here and all over the world.

Which Special World are you from again? Questions don't put meat and potatoes on the table, Short Bus.

WOW!!! Don't understand this one...I do not know Mr. Sly all I can say is he promptly and professionally answered my questions regarding this cue and lake wood shafts....cue looks great....I do not think some people understand how much hard work goes into cue building. I struggle with simple tip changes...but I am getting better  I have a lot of respect for those who have the talent and skill to build them. Great cue Mr. Sly.

1. I had posted an interest in the cue the NIGHT BEFORE he sent you his PM...definition= "TIREKICKER"

2. Because I had the audacity to ask a few questions before I committed...definition= "TIREKICKER"

3. line cutting is down there with looting...No, saying "I will take it" as opposed to "tirekicking" is right up there with "BUYING"

4. you could make another 50 bocote sneakys, & none of them would have color as good, a grain pattern as cool, & be as light (18.5 oz)...yes, he could have built you another cue that would have been just as beautiful, just as cool, and just as light, if you had been a real buyer and not a "tirekicker"

5. And for $125 more...
=Lakewood shaft

6. I had been waiting 5 yrs for such a cue...then you should have acted instead of kicking the old tires

7. I'm sure all you Sly fans will think I'm a jerk for posting this message...actually, "jerk" was not the term that came to mind...

Merry Christmas,
Joe
