I always liked the way Searcy and Wade Crane broke.
The operator is placing the cursor on the screen to mark the exact spot where the player is placing his cue ball. The app then calculates the precise distance between the cue ball and the one ball…

Those guys didn't lose the cueball most of the time. Players like Little David broke hard and jumped the table or scratched like 25% of the time. At the BCA show one years there was a guy with the break speed gizmo. David was over 30mph many breaks.
You need to enter table size and cue ball position to get accurate results. I have the old Predator Break Speed app on my phone, it was free, and it reads the same as the RADAR on my Break Rak as long as I input the correct breaking position. The RADAR needs no input numbers, simply turn it on and its ready to go.
Ya I understand how that works, but the guy doing it all on the laptop was actually able to bring up the position they broke from, as it was different for some, and actually manipulate it over the center spot to get a corrected reading as if that's where they broke from. It was interesting to watch the initial speed based on the sound, and then when he he would grab their cueball from the position they actually broke from to the center, he got a corrected speed reading that they actually used. At least that's what I think I saw. I do know that I saw two speeds come up, one for the two hits sound, and one corrected. Shaw was pretty impressive, although the better breakers don't seem to be concerned so much as to max speed.

If I understood correctly the Break Demon is more or less the same thing as the break speed app on the software side but it will also include a physical device that will take the place of a phone. That way at tournaments the device can just stay with the table for the duration of the tournament and the players never have to use their phones, and same thing at pool rooms or even your home table where the device just stays with the table and a phone isn't necessary. The Break Demon package with the physical device hasn't been released for public purchase yet.
Because of the resistance from the cloth and air your cue ball is moving faster at 3 feet than at 4 feet, and faster at 4 feet than at 5 feet, and so on. The cue ball is slowing continuously, so of course the smaller the table the faster your break is going to be because the cue ball is having to cover less distance (less cloth/air to deal with).
