Fun game for party with non-pool players

I'm having a party on Saturday with a bunch of non-pool playing folks. What's the best game to play where everyone can have fun? My latest thought is to play 14:1, and let everyone just take turns to see who can get the highest run. Breaks would be a free shot b/c no one is going to know how to properly leave for a new rack. Whoever is ready can shoot without going in any particular order.

I just want to find something that everyone to enjoy no matter how crappy they are:D

you could let each person shoot a whole rack and lowest total strokes wins, or person who get closest to self-predicted score wins

Or you could hide the balls and tell them you had to send them to get fixed, coz you busted your balls. That should get a laugh and keep people off your table.

How about Cutthroat? You can have 3 people on at any given time, or 6 if you partner up scotch doubles style.

Best party game for non players

Hi,

I do a lot of corporate events/parties and this is the game I play. It is called one ball.

Spot the one ball or any ball for that matter in the middle of the end rail. Breaker shoots from the kitchen. If they make the ball, they win. Next player up. If they miss, next person shoots. etc.

On any scratch, foul or not hitting the object ball, in coming player has ball in hand.

The game goes fast, luck plays a big part in it, everyone gets to play and it doesn't take forever.

If you are interested, send me an email at nycpool@gmail.com and I'll send you the rules.

You could play "Musical Pockets".
Have six of your guests stand in front each pocket on the table, with each guest wearing a blindfold. When the music starts have them go around the table in a clockwise rotation, and when the music stops have each one stick their hand into the pocket that's in front of them. The fun part is: Just after they put on their blindfolds, and just before you place them around the table, you take a big shit in one of the pockets.
I'm telling you right now this party is going to be a blast, and your guests will want to come back for more.
Well, one of them may not, but what the hell. :)

For non poolplayers, I would pick a game that all offense (shot making), no defense (safeties). That would probably fit into their expectations.

pill pool or pea pool is fun for non players and a group of 5, 6 or max 7. get some bottle caps and number each 1 to 15 with a magic marker, put in a coffee can to draw shooting order and ball # to shoot. play for 25c or 50c each to make it fun.

do a search for the complete rules.

I would go with this one!

You might try poker pool. Each participants puts $1 in middle.

To start, everyone draws one card from the deck. This will determine the turn at the table/order of play (highest to lowest/who follows who). Those that tie draw against each other.

Deal out five cards to each player. The object is to make the balls that correspond with your secretly held cards. (J=11; Q=12; K=13; 14 and 15 are freebies). You can draw up to three cards. A player may draw four if they have an Ace but must declare and show the card before drawing.

The people that yell out "I'm out" win the pool aspect. Make sure to verify all those corresponding balls are down. Those that declare they are out prematurely must put another $1 in the pot. Notice I said "people" as there can be more then one go out at the same time! That person/those people get/split half the pot -- I've seen it go three ways! Note: The shooter can put someone else out while trying to go out himself/herself. Whoever goes out breaks next. In case of a tie, flip a coin to determine who breaks.

Once the pool portion is done, it's time to compare poker hands! The highest hand wins the 2nd half of the pot. Ties split.

What makes this fun is everyone has a chance to win -- no matter who is shooting.

Players can shoot any ball (for position) but may in fact unknowingly be putting someone else out in the process.

I wrote this kind of fast; but, you get the idea (I think). Someone can actually win both the pool and poker and not even shoot! I've won both when someone broke and made the one ball and seven on the break when I had a full house (Aces over). It can be a real fun game, especially when involving "a bunch of non-pool playing folks".

Have fun!

What about 3 ball? Lots of threads with rule sets, unlimited number of participants, and fast turnover.

Have everyone draw a ball from the ball box to determine order and write it down on paper or a chalk board.

Shoot one shot (the break does not count against you) unless you miss, then the next person in line shoots, etc.

Each miss is one strike, three strikes you are out. Last man standing wins.

Its not naked twister, but its fun.
