Fun stroke training exercise

Nice drill Joe, I going downstairs to practice it now. BTW, I just received your "Guaranteed Improvement" book and cd. Great drills. I am already seeing an improvement. Thanks!

1 rail, 2 rail 3 rail are all a must and if you master the very simply 10 ball rotational rail drill you will be considered a player, Enjoy & Thanks for the purchase.

I think you're right Neil and I was going to say the same thing to this guy over in the other forum http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=209546 but wanted him to do the drill first.
I don't think its a problem with the drill though, it'll still help us stay straighter through impact and hopefully make us more aware of any steering and help reduce it.

One more thing I forgot to add to that video was for those players that aren't lucky enough to have a table at home was to take 4 golf tees OR 4 screws (thanks Neil) and set them up so there's 2 sets of tees 2-3 inches behind the 1st two and set your cue stick between all of them and you work on your stroke that way. Practice stroke, practice stroke, delivery stroke and while you're doing it visualize as vividly as possible, I think 5-10 minutes will help a great deal.

I worked on the drill last night. At first, I kept knocking down the right tee, then I made myself concentrate on where the tip was going AFTER the shot. This enabled me to apply proper follow through and kept the tee from falling over. I like the drill, it really made me focus more on proper technique before and after the shot.

Just another bump for another great thread.

Thanks Joe, as always your videos are very well done and give good information.

Joe,
Thanks for the link. I can see this becoming a standard homework assignment for any of my students who tend to steer the cue.

Unfortunately not, I'm still too far outa the loop.
Have the desire to teach but can't muster up anything towards playing. Actually makes me sad to type that :(

That shouldn't be cause for sadness. I have had my time as a player, and now I find myself teaching. I play recreationally in league, but my efforts all go into teaching. I find it much more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.

Be happy you have the ability to share what you have learned over the years with others. It's a good thing!

Steve
