This photo was in the funny pic thread. It is funny, but IMO sadly so. I admit I'm old school, but man the upcoming generation sure isn't being taught as well as us old folks were, or at least they aren't listening to the teacher. Probably because the teachers can't scold them anymore without being politically incorrect.

I would never comment to anyone who misspells a word on an internet forum, we all do. The sad part is when they can't communicate intelligently.

For example instead of writing " there were too many fouls" they write "there were to many fouls" or "their were to many fouls".

Another example is when they should write, " he should have known" they write instead, " he should of known".

Some of these people grow up and work in the news business. Case in point.

So very well stated. My condolences for your Grandmother, she sounds like a great woman.

Interesting thought...how would you factor in the additional demands on parent's/ student's time? Seems we do a lot more these days than our partents did.

So you find it sad not that some was killed but that it was worded improperly by someone reporting it.
 
Well it seems to me that 50 years ago there was such a thing as parents. It wasn't so stylish to divorce on a whim like it is today, or be as sexually promiscuous as society condones today.

Not to mention it wasn't really stylish 50 years ago to have as many kids as you could just to collect welfare for each one ( and get away with it) as it is today.

Today's mentality is, don't work for it, we'll give it to you anyway.

Secondly, and specifically, I don't think kids don't want to learn, it seems to me that there isn't any reason or penalty for being lazy and not learning. Why not take the easy way out if it stares you in the face.

50 years ago there wasn't any "No Kid Left Behind" program where it didn't matter if you pass or fail you move on in grade regardless.

Teachers were much more than merely conveyers of material when I was in school. They commanded respect. Not today, teachers are afraid to even raise their voice to students when they act out for fear of being fired or put up on youtube for christ sake.

The moral fiber of our society is evolving.... err excuse me, devolving. But it will eventually have to go full circle or simply collapse completely.

Look, this isn't confined to the school system it's every facet of our lives. Political correctness trumps common sense, period. It's the fashion today and going against the grain to regain some sanity isn't fashionable.

I agree with you on this. Society doesn't degenerate over night. With each generation the "give an inch take a yard" syndrome is one of the culprits. Once we go two generations removed, whatever morality there once was is no longer even recognized.

LOL, much like straight pool, today kids never even heard of the game. It's a thing of the past, just like respect, and the penalty for not having any.

For lack of a better example 50 years ago if you heard the word hell or damn in a song you would be very surprised. Today its, go f$%k your mamma, Mutha F#$% this or that, none of that happened over night or over one generation. The words got worse gradually and accepted one little bit at a time.

So, in the name of free speech, no one wants to touch this problem. Ban that music would be infringing on the writers free speech. Bull, all it's doing is teaching the next generation of kids how to respect less.

If you don't see that you're either blind or two generations removed. :wink:

Like I said, it has to go full circle at some point, relearning and like it never once was, or we simply crash and burn.
