Fusco's The Spot (smoking allowed - nasty)

Sounds like someone is a bit salty about all of the mice that have been killed to get those second hand smoke statistics......

You seem to have a vendetta against openly discussing how Fusco's The Spot allows smoking. ;)

The keyword is Fusco's ... Not pool mouse
Open your own place. I could go along with you setting the record straight while stalking Danny but your character is shining through. This is somewhat still a free country and some people like me hate it when someone tries to dictate how everybody lives and conducts theirselves . Must be lonely on that pedestal. Run for public office but quit bashing everyone and thing you don't agree with. You might end up reaping what you sew. The whole worlds not going to agree with you and you can't make them.

I swear people do not read or think about what is posted before they reply.

If the owner wants to allow smoking so be it... if a person wants to publicly announce that smoke bothers them so be it.

I trout I said this before, but don't see that it made the thread:D

I am guilty of the above. I addressed a related topic- do smokers have a 'right' to smoke, if it imposes 2nd hand smoke of folks who don't want it?

That has nothing to do with the spot. It has a legal right to allow smoking and obviously does.

Fusco's The Spot (smoking allowed - nasty) sounds derogatory

Fair point, the subject only has so much space. I guess removing "- nasty" would have sounded nicer.

My first post provided context, but yea, the subject line is bit abrasive.

So I spent a few hours at Fusco's The Spot and when I got home I couldn't tell if I smelled like smoke or not.

After I showered it was clear. I stank like a dirty wet sock. I guess smokers don't notice/care since their sense of smell is already impacted.

I think I'm done with that place, at least until they make a no-smoking poolroom.

It's a shame, good people and equipment, unfortunately it comes at a cost...carcinogens and nasty smell.

Time to find another room...thankfully most get a clue and don't allow smoking. ;)

Yep, I don't think anyone ever implied they didn't have the legal right. As long as they card you at the door and you're listed in their books as a member, etc.

I say give Fusco's an atta boy for not making folks stand out in the freezing rain next to the smokers out post. Have you ever tried to smoke in an airport?

Agree 100%

Try this....

If you know there is smoking allowed and you DO NOT SMOKE... why the hell would you go to a place that allows smoking?

I am a non-smoker, occasional cigar, but damn I can read a sign, I can walk into a place and know within seconds if I am going to be able to stay.

....and the same people here... tell others to use the ignore button... irony...

JV

I have never smoked a day in my life. But I don't feel it's my business to tell a "business" how to run their "business.

There are 2 choices someone can make. I think we know what they are.

How long does it take you to smoke a cigarette? Pool rooms that have banned smoking provide sheltered smoking areas. This is already done at the vast majority of pool rooms, successfully so, and their businesses are thriving. Because smokers and non-smokers can play without being exposed to second hand cigarette smoke.

The Spot is A++

I took some of my hard earned and saved money and opened up my pool room, Corner Pocket Billiards in 2011, and closed it this past April. and I was 5 miles from THE SPOT Before I opened, I would frequent his old establishment, and also his new one when he opened on Bristol Rd....

The first week I was opened, Pete and Big Jim stopped in to check out the place, and wished me nothing but good business and even extended their hands should I need anything.....

Pete Fusco is a great guy, and he is great for this sport.

Stop worrying about the smoke, if you don't like it, don't come...it is that simple. A good amount of people had a lot of negative things to say about my room, but when was all said and done, I really didn't care, and neither did they, they just liked to complain...

I'm sure they wont miss you

Find something else to clog these walls up about.....

From the reviews it sounded like a nice smoke free room, sorry you guys closed.

The only issue I have with Fusco's The Spot is the second hand cigarette smoke.

Otherwise, as I've always said, its a great room, with great people and equipment.

Too bad its a death trap, otherwise younger, healthier people (with money to spend) would go there. ;)

Nit

Yes, I see you have nothing better to do....

Thanks for your response

But if you will excuse me, being the poolplayer that I am,I am going to support another room and enjoy what they provide, instead of trash talking it...

Have a nice day...

Our state laws say they (smokies) have to be minimum 25' away from any public entrance.....including you neighboring businesses entrances.
That may put you another zip code in some localities if your operating in a strip mall.

From a logistics point of view, are you going to be able to keep track of say 100+ people plus on a busy night going in and out of your establishment per hour , some to never return and pay their table time? pretty tough task unless there in a cage.
Also we are zoned in a residential area so having people outside making racket til 4am or what have ya may cause a problem with the township.
Just another problem we face in/if considering any kind of change to our policies.
Im not making excuses but there are factors to consider.

I think it's been clearly established that their business is thriving, best action room in the area, plenty of customers & also they've established they don't give a tinkers darn whether you like their policy on smoking, so where does that leave us. That you are incensed that they don't change their smoking policy because you want them to. As my old man once told me, "it doesn't matter what you want, want in one hand and crap in the other & see which one fills up first". I think that applies here so be a good lad and run along now.
