Has anyone had any experience breaking or jumping using a cue with a G-10 tip ???? I see them advertised on jump/break cues and was wondering....

I'm just wondering, why are so many people fascinated with jump cues?

Yes. I bought a jump cue from Alex Brick while visiting Nashville & I love it! It is made of diamond wood (layers epoxied together) & has a g-10 tip/ferrule combo. It jumps the balls like a monster, and because of how heavy it is (11.9oz) it helps me stay down and through during the jump shot. I suggest you contact him.

It works well but does not hold chalk as well as my canvas-resin. I have some G10 here if you'd like to try a tip.

I have achieved mastery & CB control with my Seyberts Sledgehammer (phenolic) & recently enjoyed a leap in my %age of balls potted on the break. Assuming that the G-10 is even harder, I would like to experiment with it.

i've heard reports that g10 and g11 is harder than pool balls and will damage them. also since it is a glass epoxy, that microscopic glass shards will break off and get all over the table, reducing the cloth life and making it play very slowly and it is impossible to brush or vacuum off. i've never used it or know anyone that does, so i don't know how true this is. but maybe something to think about. phenolic seems plenty hard enough to me and it's proven safe.

I have a G-10 tipped break cue I keep it strictly for jumping because I don't like the way it throws the cue ball sideways if I'm not dead center on the cue ball.I had a Varney for a while his tip hit just as hard and played very close to a super hard leather tip.Definitely the best tip for the job!

At the Hopkins trade show I was impressed with Victor Steins ferrule material for jumping because the key is being able to play shape after jumping the balls! Jensen also uses g-10 material for jump break. In the phillipines they use a stacked linen which I use and it is unbelievable and legal. Victor stein can get you eurowest and can get you the ivory substitute. Or get a eurowest jump break. All the phenolic's hit the balls faster harder speed is power In olathe Kanas Danny sells some cues from the phillipines and in the future you could get a jumper their. Contact jim buss ask him how he likes the amboyna burl jumper he also bought in olathe actally he bought 2.

sorry to get off topic, but nineballart what type of cue is that in your avatar it is really beautiful.
I personally think that you can cross the line to being too hard and IMHO g10 is just that...canvas or linen phenolic seem hard enough to get the "pop" that you need for jumping...
It's a Jerry Olivier I picked up in Vegas at BCA this past May.......The foream has the same design. It's curly maple with Bacote...The wrap is a stack leather by Tiger and it matches the cue perfect. I get lots of compliments on it and it also hits a ton. Real easy to play with...Thanks for noticing.....
