are you able to make it to this tourney

Probably not. I'd go over all the problems i have to resolve in order to get ready to play in 2 weeks but its the same old sad sack story that you hear daily on azb, and who wants to hear that crap? Suffice it to say, if you see me there in June, pray like hell you draw me, cause I will be playing at full billy bye speed.

The bottom line is nobody has any money and what money they do have they are holding on to.

Between casino's, on line poker, $4.00 gas, no tournaments and the sh!tty economy in general it is tough to get action. We just spent a week in Vegas with 7200 pool players. You know how many sets over a $1000 we saw that were not planned?

One.

i wholeheartedly agree with JCIN. the economy is in the toilet and pool players feel it more than most. Traveling includes gas money (which is outragous) and the tourneys arent exactly gonna make u rich either.

So less money+ higher gas and food prices= less gamble.

I did win a drink from iba by landing a quarter on a bar stool...he won it back though on a shot I really thought I could make. :D Try and come to Athens next month for the TK tourney. Im sure Vette will try and be there and we can all go out.

I have seen players too many times woof and woof until someone takes them up on the challenge, and then they have to try to find a backer instead of being able to post. I think we all know how hard it is to get stakehorses to put up any significant money these days. The econony can be blamed, but not entirely.:( :( :(

If a player can spot you more than one wild ball then a game spot means almost nothing. From my experience the 6 out is harder to spot than 8 games in a race to 10.

wat?
I have to strongly disagree here.

8-on-the-wire to 10 is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 6-out. Like it's not even on the same planet.

Get someone who can give me the 6-out, and it be a fair game, and then that same player can give me 8 games to 10 with no balls and we can jack up the bet.

As far as action lately, yeah, it sucks, everything seems slow. Maybe that will turn around sometime?
It's gotten so boring around here that I haven't seen a pool hall in months.

Pardon my ignorance..... but what pool room do you own? In Ft Myers? I'm up in Northwest Fl.....Might make a trip down sometime.

Nothing new!

There have been economic downturns before, many much worse than this one. Gas is through the roof, and rooms are expensive. So the bottom line is, match up locally, and stop whining about things. How would you like to wake up in Baghad ? I'll bet its tough to get a game over there too.
We still live in the greatest country in the world, so lets stop sniveling and get out there and match up !!!!!

Wow, it's all over the news...

Dick,

You ain't kidding, brudda. The last time there was even a HINT of a money game here is when one banger had been taking some other banger's money, and one of the losers brought me in as a ringer.

I got on the tables, and they were the best tables I had played on in months, and I fell into a groove, and within the next 30 minutes, killed all possibility of action. I didn't mind. Crap, i was happy to shoot on a table that didn't roll off a foot end to end, or put a nick in an object ball struck firmly from the metal backing on the pocket.

(It's a little tuff to hustle bangers when no one is allowed to drink alcohol. General order #1, and all that. :D)

Did you read the pots and pans interview on Freddie's website? He had some interesting ideas on how to hide your speed.

I know where you are coming from, I couldn't get backed any way. The point I am making is, most of the loud woofing going on is being done by people who don't have a dime of their own money to bet anyway. I really respect the players who are willing to put up their own cash, win or lose.
