Gambling and Feds and the Internet

I have been talking about for years that people are being really really dumb with their actions on here.

The idea of an action section by itself put AZ on the radar and my pleas fell on deaf ears. If people want to bet, we have this thing called email and they can do it amongst themselves without posting to a forum.

You are exactly right, of course, but then those so-called "high rollers" who claim to bet high won't get the attention they feel they so rightly deserve if there was no action forum. It seems like some of those threads are more like a pissing contest over there than action, and if somebody does not care for what somebody wrote, then they are labeled names and all sorts of odd remarks. Some of those posts are like male dogs growling at each other but nothing ever materializes.

I've gambled a lot of money in pool over the years, but never, never, never would I ever bet on a pool match via a pool forum with people I don't even know, much less alias names used here. It's asking for trouble.

vChippies is another story. I've currently got 25, and I'm willing to send it in.

I seriously doubt that the "Feds" are investigating any pool-related gambling, but there is no doubt in my mind that those who frequent the poker sites are being given a second look due to the recent shutdown of online poker sites in the U.S.

Fortunately or unfortunately, it has only been in recent times that the poker and pool worlds have meshed on social media sites.

Believe me, there ain't enough money in pool for the Feds to waste their resources. Poker, on the other hand, is another story.

I agree but still hope the Feds are wasting their resources chasing poor pool players (is there any other kind?). That way, they'll have fewer resources to harass innocent Persons elsewhere.

Well, that's one way to look at it!

One thing I know for sure, the Feds investigate people who do not declare income by way of taxes. This catches their attention. It's all about paying taxes. This is why celebrities like Willie Nelson get slammed. The Feds see all the income and wants a piece of that pie.

Poker players who boast about huge scores should beware! ;)

Pool players don't have too much to worry about in that regard. :embarrassed2:

It's all about TAXES??????? I thought it was all about the CHILDREN ??

Close but no cigar!

Actually, if you want to get down to it, it's all about taxes and assets.

I don't think the Feds realize how much those custom-made pool cues cost. :p

I said this same thing to an old timer in the pool hall, he told me Johnston City was ended by a raid by the feds, they came in a took everyone's cash. Does anyone know if this is true?

Go to Jimmy Rieds site and read the stories it will tell you about Johnson City. Freepoollessons.com

Not only are there Feds on the streams but there iz CIA, ATF n Mothers Against Drunk Drivers too :sorry::o:confused::sorry:

Wilson would never do anything like that. :yikes:

Apparently he would! My friend here in memphis has had major trouble getting to 25 posts. They keep getting deleted for bs reasons. He has been playing pool for 20 years and owns some pretty nice equipment, not sure why the mods don't want him here. He is certainly more qualified to post than some of the members.

Anyway

Eric, we have discussed this before... I doubt they would have let it go this long and just now care about $25 action. It would be so damn hard to track and would cost more than it could generate... JMO

i had just forgot to log in before i posted this and the action room forum appears to be wide open again. Why the reason to let everyone in? there wasn't as much nuisance posts in there after that. And the regulars don't have to worry about trolls trying to get free money.

The feds went after Luther Lasiter years ago who told you they don't go after gamblers?

I never heard about that. I thought Luther was pretty much living on social security when he died. What happened?

According to the book "Hustler Days" by RA Dyer (sp?), the feds did raid one of the Johnson City events. I believe Lassiter was not there and was not arrested, but everyone else was. And yes, according to the same book, Lassiter retired from pool, moved in with a relative, lived off SS, and died in his bed with a handful of cash to his name.

I m guessing the original poster knows nothing n just made a silly ego fluffing post:o:sorry:
