Scenerio is this a while ago a guy came in to my pool hall beat him for 300 at onepocket,I told my friend about this and told him if he ever sees the guy he should play him where he could beat him easily, last Saturday I'm at para playing poker my friend calls me and said he played him and beat him for 250 I told him good job, he told me he was going to Pete fusco place if I want to go over and play him a hundred game he wanted half for telling me he was going over,I was losing a little in poker so I went. I walked in acted surprise to see him and asked him to play . He only wanted to play for 50 game, my friend came so being nice I gave him half my bet even tho it was a lock and the bet went down.mean while he got a game from somebody he beats all the time so I told him I want same bet from him, he said ok.me and the guy were going back and forth, I was up game went to my friend and asked if he wanted to just keep are own bets since they were normally lock,he said no, I won 4 games time was 40 so we each made 80.it was late and he was still playing so I left and we decided to settle up next time we see each other.he eneded up even . So we'd he texts me and says if fells bad he broke even with the guy and says he might play him tonight do I want same bet I told him yes ,I coulndt go since my daughter was giving birth.he said ok. The guy he plays is a dealer at para and I saw him and asked how he did, he said they didn't play we'd but played thur, and lost 4 game, I texted my friend and told him good shooting how much does he owe me, he says nothing since he played the next day, I said if I said yes wed why wouldn't I say yes thurs, he says since we didn't play that night he don't owe me I still owe him, I guess he didn't fell to bad. Sorry for long post , so tell me who's right

Sounds like your friend would have just told you he didn't play if you asked him how it went.. Or if he had lost, he'd want you to pay half.. I'd pay him what I owe him and tell him I'm never going in on anymore matches with him.. Time to fine a new friend.

If you were really the best one pocket player in Philly, you would know all the answers to your scenario already :grin-square::grin-square::grin-square:

My opinion is 100% no, you don't get a cut of that game. Money talks. Your money has to be in play, and posted with the horse. What you agreed on yesterday does not apply today. Its a new session.

I guess I'm the best one pocket player now? :grin-square::grin-square:

You tell a person about an easy game, and ask nothing in return for the info. After that person wins his easy game, he calls you back and tells you where the "mark" is going. For that info, Not setting up a game, not cluing you in on an easy "mark", just the location at the moment of said "mark") he now wants half your winnings. Later, you set him up again, for whatever reason he waits to play the next day, and then says he doesn't owe you anything, but you still owe him.

And this is a guy you call "friend"??? Man, I never want to meet your enemies!

p.s.- you know who the first "mark" is, care to guess who the second "mark" is??

I agree, Neil.
Here's what a 'friend' is in the action world.....
...I had a friend phone me...he was playing a good player on that guy's
favorite table...he asked me if I wanted half the action...
...I said "Sure."
He said "We're up four games."

100%

This information is a 100% correct in my opinion.

Tough call.

A lot can happen in a day. You could be flush on Monday and want half the action then busted on Tuesday and want none of it.

It seems you and your friend have the best of it but you never know what can happen.

How would you feel if you heard your buddy was stuck 1000 but played on Thursday instead of Tuesday?

Flip side

If it's the same scheduled session you had a piece of he should hold up his end.

If I am playing a head set on Fri night and you have half my action and for some reason it doesn't go off until Sat, I would call to confirm your half - but would expect you were still in.

Sorry I don't think I'm helping - Just fishing for the name of the player I guess.

I play in Philly (normally I would think I was the Mark)

Pm me if you can!!

You really took the time to start this thread about nothing?

Great job man, your thread reads like a Gilbert Morris book.

Well, he's not your friend. Thats clear. You can stiff him for the $80 and cut him loose, or give him the $80....and cut him loose. But, cut him loose! Any business you do with him going foward will be tainted.
Had a similar thing in 1973 at Beenies place. My partner was going to play Monk some 9 ball for $50 a game. I had to leave, so I left him $500 to add to his $500. It was 4 am. He wakes me up at 11am at my place and says he blew the $1000 . The Monk game got knocked , so he played Steve Gumphrey 9 ball banks getting 5-4. I would not have had half that action had I been there....bad game...Steve was a friend and a monster player.
But, we were partners and friends , so I took the loss. That what ' friends " do.
Good luck
ps
Pick your friends carefully, they are very hard to come by.

Thanks to the grammatical and structural mistakes of your sentences I stopped reading after the first line because I thought I was going to have a seizure, so I don't know:eek:

The match you agreed to back him on did not go down on the day you agreed on. So by strict verbal contract he owes you nothing. But by having some "class" he owes you half. But I have found having class is in short supply in many pool players dealings. Would you have been okay with paying the loss on a match that happened at a later date?

So, let me get this straight...

1. You find an easy game and beat the guy for $300.
2. You tell your "friend" about the easy game and he beats him for $250.
3. Your "friend" then tells you where the guy that you pointed him to is going to be and asks for half.
4. You agree to this.

Anything that happened after that is a moot point. The mistake was made with event #4. Looking at this from a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style, after event #3, you had three choices:

4a. Tell your friend that you will give him 50%, as long as you get $125 of his $250 because you pointed him to that game to begin with.
4b. Tell him to pound sand, because he wouldn't have made the $250 score, if it wasn't for you, in the first place.
4c. You agree to this.

I'm pretty sure that you chose the worst of the 3 options. Personally, I would have gone with option 4b... then the rest of this situation wouldn't even exist.

So, you made a bad choice... just pay him and move on.

Oh... another thing... this man is not your "friend."

I've seen and heard this story a hundred times, that how it goes, it's all about greed!

You should have kept this ( Mark ) all to yourself and picked him when he was ripe, then let him fatten back up and do it again, but it's to late now.

All you can do now is run another player in on the ( Mark ) and get half....that's better than a snowball..........
