I was wonder about people I befriended in the past . And was wondering if anyone might know who this is. Called himself Gene "the machine '. I truly was amazed at this guy.. He was in his twenties then I believe so he's somewhere in his 50's now. Came into the Keys in the 80's.

Gene Cooper:thumbup:

I think he has quit playing again, he was playing in some of Shannon's tournaments last year and I have not seen him anywhere in the last 8 or 10 months. I used to like watching him gamble at Pro Billiards in Charlotte in the 80 and 90's, he played straight pool very well.--Leonard

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Gene was a pretty solid shortstop who liked playing on the bar tables. But he would step up on a big table too if the money was there. Had a lot of gamble in him. I'm guessing he's in his mid 50's now.

When Shannon beat the Miz in to win his first Legends of one pocket tourny one player he beat was Gene Cooper. He also beat Jeff Carter 5-0 and Bugs 5-3 and he was 19:eek:.

I used to have a bootleg copy of Shannon playing Gene Cooper in that tourny and I have since lost it

Oh and I actually have the finals of that match on tape and its gotta be one of the greatest race to 5 one pocket matches in history. Neither player really does much wrong. Miz up 3-0 and then....Well you know

Sounds like the guy. Don't know for sure. Anyway if anyone happens to run into him might ask him if he ever made it down here.
