Ginacue question

Got a question about ordering a cue from Ginacue

will he make you a custom cue to your specs and design? or will he only let you buy something that he wants to design? I want a plain jane from him nothing fancy at all. No inlays just a simple merry widow bem anyone with any experience with this guy please let me know cause i don't want to call and waste our time if he will not do it. Thanks

so... 8,000. lol yeah i'll give him a call later today jay unless he's one of those guys that's already up and in his shop at work. Hey isn't it 630 am there? Up pretty early for a pool player Jay. :D

Yeah but I will call him hopefully he will be willing too make me exactly what I want I'm going to guess he'll find what i have in mind very dull but I just want a player.

I ordered a cue from him about 3 years ago. I called his shop and was surprised that the man himself answered the phone. Thought that I would get a recording or receptionist. Naturally he likes to make fancy one of a kind cues but he does make catalog cues. The time of delivery depends on what he is set up for.

I don't know what you have in mind for a "plain" jane but I would just ask for the simplest cue that he is making at the time because there is not that much difference between the lower end cues that he makes. He may also have one in stock that is available.
 
I was just hoping to get a BEM merry widow, stainless joint black collars, black butt cap and black leather wrap. think he would make that?

I doubt it, but the only way to find out is ask.

So you waste my/our time instead??????LOL Will probably be home Sat. I don't think I'm going to the Derby, will call you Sunday.
 
Ernie is very easy to work with. Not the jolliest fella on the phone but he does fantastic work and he when he gives you a delivery date you can set your watch by it. As for making your plain Jane cue.....I honestly don't know if he will or not. I've never seen a plain BEM Gina before. I do know that, on cues with points, if you ask for colors he doesn't agree with he won't make it. Call the man. Worst that can happen is he says no.

I would have said the same thing six months ago but he made my pal Joe (who is a poster on this board) a great plain BEM stick (with GREAT rings) recently. Ernie does want to concentrate his time on the higher end cues, but you never know until you ask. Here's Joes "plain" Gina:

Yeah, that's about right for Ernie's version of a Plain Jane: 60 abolone inlays and perhaps the single nicest piece of BEM I've ever seen. Good lord, that is one sick piece of birds eye. :bow-down:
 
I take it back, I have seen a plain Gina before, it was all ebony with really nice silver ring work. That plain Gina was the inspiration for my wife's Paul Mottey when I ordered it for her.

Nice looking stick your friend has there too.

Yeah its a great hunk of wood. Come to think of it, Ernie might've charged a couple of dollars for those rings. Unplain jane, or Jane+

Ernie use to have a very nice, basic, five-point, ss-jointed, two shaft cue in his catalogue.

In any case, if he doesn't like the concept, he won't make it.

Ernie's open to any ideas on a cue...

I actually talked with Ernie ( Via e-mail ) abou the design I wanted in a cue. All I can say is that the guy will test try it to see if it looks right. If not he'll make suggestions on what you can do to still get the look you want. I eventually settled on a plain jane merry widow highly figured BEM forearm and butt sleeve with ss joint and black pig skin leather wrap & fancy ringwork at all locations. Costs 2125.00. I'd say that's a great price for a cue made from a legend in our own time!
 
yes and no..

yes he'll listen to your design but as for making things custom to your specs..it's a maybe..he told me that the specs are gina specs such as joint size..butt size diameter etc. If you like certain things custom to your order.Like i am. I have smaller hands..then you have two choices either adjust to his cues..or go else where.

None the less the guy makes an incredible cue. Just not as custom as other cuemakers.
