The press release didn't say anything about Harriman swinging from the table light.
Here's more info:
“He had heard that someone had gotten up on the table,” Archer explained before leaving for the evening. “He basically went to the referee and asked the referee. The referee told him yes, you can get up on the table. So he takes his shoes off, jumps up on all fours, and shoots the balls. It was undignified, it was very disrespectful. No matter if it’s the rule or not, I don’t care. It disrespects the game, and if we’re going to be pros, if we’re going to be professional out here playing the biggest tournament in the world, there’s no call for us to jump up on top of the table and shoot the ball.” Archer still advances to Wednesday’s matches in spite of this loss. Harriman was undefeated for the day and will also advance.
Tournament director Deno Andrews was called upon to comment, and he replied, “I looked at the rules, and apparently it is not a rule in the IPT official rules at this time. At this point it’s just the rule for this tournament, and this is really not the time to be reviewing the rules. I don’t know why it’s not in the rules … I don’t know if it’s necessary or if it’s just historical or traditional, but whatever the case may be, it’s just not a rule.”
