Go Harriman Go!

Look at it this way.

I have been to some bar table tourneys and played against some excellent players, and it just so happened the tourney had no requirement to hit a rail.

So ole Cocomo, if he got in a bad situation, he'd just roll up to one of his balls and freeze me to it.

The first time he did it, it shocked me. Then, after I found out it was not a rule, I started doing it too. I did not consider it "unsportsmanlike". The rules applied equally to both of us.

I was the better player, so generally, I won regardless of the rules.

there is no way I would have known about this loophole.

The word ``loophole`` is a inapropriate term to describe the situation in question.

Question....

There was some controversy, however, about a loophole in the IPT rules permitting Harriman to jump onto the table (like a monkey :) ) to pocket the ball and win the match).

Afterward Archer remarked to Gabe Owen, “I didn’t even shake his hand. He said, ‘You’re disrespecting me,’ and I said, ‘Hey, we’re in suits and ties here, and you’re jumping on the table like a monkey … you’re disrespecting me.”
Standing nearby, Owen stated, “That’s awful. A loophole like that is bad.”

OK...so If this is AWFUL stated from owen...WHAT is he doing? Does he have a go go gadget foot? I seriously DOUBT his foot is on the floor in this shot...

I am 100% certain that if Steve and I were playing an IPT match and if I got up on the table on all fours to shoot a shot, I would be uninvited to Steve's next birthday dinner.

In that case u do not have to buy him a gift and u will save some money.
Jude, danny did not break any law and every thing was approved by the referee.

Hot off the wires:
Nick Varner won his second match of the day over Charlie Williams 8-4 in a match that saw both players clamber about on top of the table. “I played good that match—I really pocket balls good, the table was breaking hard. You had to fight for every game. That’s two wins and one loss. I feel pretty good, I’ll feel better if I make a few balls on the break and run a few racks.”
When asked what he think about the foot-on-floor rule he replied, “I’m not gonna argue ‘cause I’m not six-six … it works for me.”

I can just imagine the undignified spectacle of players in the tv matches climbing onto the table and potting balls. What if one of the players has a hole in their socks? LOL.

Deno should put an end to this silliness by issuing a ruling that going forward, all players must shoot with at least one foot on the floor.

Anyway, I do have to apologize to Danny. I have been informed that this particular maneuver was in fact performed by other players previously in the tournament. The fact there was no rule change after it was first performed makes it perfectly acceptable in my mind, then. Danny wasn't trying to pull one over on anyone; he was simply doing what he had seen others do.
Steve, since my last post, I also read that Danny was not the only one taking advantage of this lack of a rule. Obviously, Danny was following the lead of others.

As far as a rule change in the middle of a tournament, I would have to disagree with that. IMHO, the current rules should stand until the end of this tournament. Players in later rounds should get the same benefit as those in early rounds. However, I do believe Dino should review this oversight as soon as this tournament is over and make the necessary change before the next tournament.

Varner I can forgive- the rack of balls probably weigh as much as he does. But Owen is a dead ringer for Chris Farley in that last picture! I half expect the table to collapse underneath him, followed by David Spade chasing after him, hitting him with a cue.

Okay, back to reality!

Harriman vs Bustamante tomorrow! (okay, later today)

How cool is that!

I think it's hilarious. I am sure the IPT wil fix their rules after this tournament. In the mean time people should lighten up and enjoy the entertainment value of such a story..........

Tap, tap, tap.

My thoughts exactly.

I don't know Danny personally, but whenever I have seen him at tournaments, he has been a perfect gentleman and sportsman.
You can't not root for a guy like that. He is a credit to the game.

Bustamante over Harriman 8-6

Bustamante just beat Harriman 8-6 in the last 36 round. Danny now has 2 straight losses and have to win the remaining 3 games in order to have achance to advance. Busta appears to be a man on a mission now. He has not lost a single match yet since the tournament started last Sunday. His buddy Efren is not far behind and is still capable even at 52 years old to win this tournament.

Do you think what happened yesterday is affecting Harriman's performance adversely?

Nah, I think it was a bigger deal with a few folks here than anyone there. 8-6 is very respectable against Mr. Bustamante. Anything is still possible!

In reading today's Press Release, I noticed the following IPT rule change:
"The IPT announced this morning that, effective immediately, the “one foot on the floor” rule would be enforced."
 :)

$30,000 minimum, not bad!

Holy guacamole! Mr. Harriman is very much in it! In the top eighteen!

I don't think the one foot on the floor rule change is going to slow anyone down. Personally, I agree with changing the rules mid tournament in this case. It's nothing anyone hasn't been use to already, but it was kind of funny while it lasted!:D

Go Danny go go go!

Danny has put himself in a great position, I would think he is also guaranteed a tour card now as well with his money earnings.

4 Months ago Danny would have never dreamed that he would be in this position. It just goes to show that you can accomplish ANYTHING if you get enough positive energy behind it.

So right!
