Goals for 2006

It is during this week that I really cement my goals for the new year. As I was going over my goals for 2005, I looked at my pool goals for this last year and I had only written down one goal: MVP in league. I had forgotten that I'd written it at all. And the funny part is, I was the MVP in Valley league's winter session. I've heard that just writing a goal can lock it into your subconscious mind where it will effect it into being, and I'm guessing that that's what happened to me. ;)

So I'm setting my pool goals for 2006. I want to win at State this year, but my pool team wants to go to Midwest Valley, not State, so I'm going to win the Midwest Singles Open or whatever it is called. And I'm going to refine my new aiming technique and clarify it and be through with adjusting it. My eye surgeries are all over and I've gotten glasses and contacts again so I'm going to figure out which does me the best and live/play with that. And I'm going go over 13.0 avg.in the Drivermaker Memorial Holiday Tournament in December '06.

Is anyone else setting goals for 2006? And would you mind sharing them with us?

Happy frickin' New Year, Everybody!!!!:) :)

I would like to:
Practice more and learn as much as I can to improve my game.
Help others learn to enjoy the game of pool.
Take first at vnea junior nationals.
Shoot more tournaments.

;)

I have set my goal in january 2003 that I'll turn pro by my birthday in 2006 which is december 08 or I'll quit all together. I started to play in 1992 and I figure I won't give myself more time.
Although am playing good it looks like I am turning into poker due to my back injury.
Well thats how it goes in life :(

The only goal related to billiards, is I want it to be fun again, having been stuck in a small town for decades ran its course, not stuck anymore. Have a fun safe time tonight, me, I got a dinner buffet and then after champagne a breakfast buffet to sober up, shoot be a hoot and an eat all in one.

I can say that I am glad 2005 is over. It has been a horrible year. I am hoping that 2006 gets better...I know I am the only one that can change it.

Goals:
1. Get my head out of my ass and apply myself more.
2. Practice
3. Be happy and have fun
4. Travel more
5. Find a sponsor

Good luck everyone with your goals.

I want to be able to take a vacation without my phone and computer for just a few days. Just relax and not think about work.

Well, on second thought, I may get bored and want to get back to work as soon as possible.

How about I wish I could win the lottery so I really do not ever need to work, then I will be able to truly relax. Yes, that sounds more like it!:D :D

Happy New Year Everyone!

Richard

Lose 10 pounds...I would be happy with 7 or 8, but I want to be thinner.

Quit choking and finally learn how to play for the cheese.

Play more pool...this a few games every couple of weeks just is NOT getting it.

Buy and sell cues less, be happy with my new custom thats due in '06.

Spend more time with my step-son and my step-daughter.

Finish my paper for my Masters degree.

Be a better husband for my wife.

I want to raise my apa 9 ball skill level from 6 to 7 by the end of the year.

With the new custom cue and the break I am getting with my phenolic tip breaker, I don't see this being a problem.

My goals To master the BHE, be more consistent at the table, and hope to win the leagues this year, First year the team came in second, second year we got put out really fast lol, and now this year we are in second place and have a good chance to take it. Hope ya'll reach your goals and beyond.

Taking Jeff's advice, that putting one's goals down in writing helps to achieve them....I hereby list a few of my 2006 Achievement Goals:

1. Become better organized.
2. Make the top 40 in 2006 IPT rankings.
3. Open a Pool Room.
4. Lose weight (get under 200lbs) and improve my fitness.

Colin

So I'm setting my pool goals for 2006.

Many of my true goals are a work in progress, while some are more finite.

2006 Resolutions for Pool

Have fun during league night - I've made great leaps in this area, and in the past couple of years have really separated league pool from tournament pool. The important thing is to be able to go from league mode to tournament mode.

Play and Win Tournaments - yeah it's a good goal. My goal is to come in top two in at least 75% all local amateur events I play, and to cash in every amateur tournament that I play that isn't local to me. I only played two local open amateur tournaments in 2005 (if you can count tournaments that are an hour away as local) and won one and came in second in the other.

BCA Master - Last year was a slight disappointment as I spent more time gambling than playing the BCA 8-ball Nationals. IMO, I have a legitimate shot at making the Masters List but obviously have to be a little more serious about it. So, that's a goal - get on the Masters List.

Jump Shot - I have a goal to make a jump shot at least once in a tournament this year. I've finally started to put in some real jump shot practice time, and am finally getting better. But, I've got a long way to go.

Break and Run - This is a tough one given goal #1, but I always aim to B&R 1/3 or more of every rack that I break in league. I'll need to do that and better at the BCA Nationals to attain goals 2 & especially 3.

Fred

Pool goals for this year:

Finalize what table I want, and get it ordered...

Indepth study into the game of 1pocket. Up to this point I've only scratched the surface.

Re-read Freddy's Bank book, and actually unerstand some of it:).....really once I get the table at home, it will be easier to work on the shots and systems He explains in the book any time I want.

Run 100 again, I've played 14.1 for 10 years, and only did it twice. Both were in the last 3 years, so I need to run 100 again so it was'nt a fluke, so to speak.....

Happy new year people.....................Gerry

Life has been pretty good in 2005 to me.

Bypass surgery went well. I have been walking 2 miles a day. My weight has stabilized and I see great possibilities of lowering it. Been retired for 12 years and still looking for the ideal next job. KT still doesn't need a rack boy.

I get 2-3 hours of pool time every day. My game has improved quite a bit and can beat most of the fish I swim with.

I'm financially sound and somehow even increased my net worth. House doubling in value was pretty nice.

Wife and kids are healthy.

So my goal for 2006 would be to stay the course. Keep enjoying pool. Sell more of my train collection. Spend more money and enjoy life.

Since I never expected to live past 55 (made a pact with God when I was about 5-6) I figure every day is a gift.

Two things I did notice:

1) If I work hard and practice pool I get better; talking does nothing for my game.

2) If I eat less food and eat the right food I lose weight.
