Going Bust

It was a good run I guess. 9 straight months without income and it all ended last night when I blew my last $60 at a pool hall in St. Louis.

I dont know what I am going to do now, Perhaps I'll get a job somewhere get a few paychecks and start back over.

I've never done it, but I'd think the actual road life isn't as grand as it is portrayed in movies like The Color of Money.

Sounds like a plan

A few checks and another try sounds like a good idea. You are a lot more knowledgeable than you were nine months ago. Nine months on the road is more of an education than degrees in practical psychology and business.

Congratulations on a nine month run and better luck next time!

Don't feel too bad. I've known guys who went broke the first place they stopped "on the road". ;)

You're not busted yet when you still have a computer to type on. Busted is when you are down to pawning everything non-essential to survive. I am with you though - I had a nice period where I lived only from my pool winnings - of course my entire life during that time was spent in the pool room so all I needed to "live" was enough for gas and food at the pool room and enough to stay in action.

I can still vividly remember sitting in front of the pawn shop with a pair of pliers and wire cutters taking out my car stereo and subwoofers to get pumped back up.

Or when I went busted in Tallhassee playing one pocket and ended up in Gainesville pawing a whole truckload of my stuff. Had to get a job after that.

:-) Those were the fun days. Now pool is just something I spell on internet forums.......

When did you head to STL? I was thinking about letting you try that game with the 7 ball tomorrow night. When you head back this way we will play a little.

Broke!

A long time ago I was homeless and living in those clothing boxes that folks donate clothes into. They were called Morgan Memorial Boxes up in New England at the time, then I hustled my way to working on fishing boats and got to live on board one. Living on the fishing boats was my first move back to the living, I had a bunk with a sleeping bag and a stove in the foc'sle to cook on, I was in heaven! All I owned was on my back and the $ I had in my pocket at the moment. Your going to have to get tough, learn some street survival techniques and work like hell, that's what I did. Today I own a home have a 22 year old daughter and a wife of almost 30 years. It isn't easy but you can do it, I did and you can too!!
Never give up!!!

Being busted is a beautiful thing.
There's no place to go but up!

I was totally busted in '83, bankrupt, no car, no job, no money, no furniture, no place to put any if I did have some.

It's amazing how creative you can get when your back is to the wall.

Good luck!
