I will be attending Bill Stroud's cue show on November 4 in Las Vegas. It's at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas. I will have a table there with some old cues. On Saturday, they are allowing general admission for $20 if anybody just wants to stop by.

Anybody here going? Hope to see you there!

Chris

Hi Chris
I'm going to be going. I heard it starts at 12:30 on Saturday. Do you know how late it is going to be open? I'll stop by and introduce myself.
Regards, Roger

Chris,

I'm jealous. I wish I could go. What are you displaying, or is that a secret? I'll plan on attending next year.

Hi Bill,

I think I am going to put together a theme of historic cues where the design was influenced by a prior cue. There will be Palmers, Paradise, Brunswick, Rambow, and the sister cues that influenced their designs. We are limited to 10 cues in a rack, but we can also display on a tabletop. So I will bring a succession of ebony cues as well that evolved into the Model 20. I am also bringing a cue from 1964 that was locked in an air tight bank vault with it's case for 40 years, the closest thing to a brand new cue and case from 1963 anyone will ever see. I think I'm also going to bring an original, unturned Titlist cue blank.

Really wish you were coming! Let's hit the next one together.

Chris

Tate, unfortunately I won't be able to make it out to the show due to work, but Matt Conerly is planning on attending. I'll make sure he stops by to say 'hi'.

I'm going to the show, it will be interesting meeting some of the AZ members. I'm also going to attend the cuemakers workshops.. sounds like it's going to be a great show.

How Do You Get Into The Discussions And Lectures? Or Do I Have To Be Part Of A Secret Society To Be Able To Get In?

I Only Ask, Because I Would Be More Inclined To Go, If I Was Able To Get Into Those Other Things As Well, And Not Just The Show For 5 Hours.

I Also Am Displaying Cues

Hi Chris,

I also wil be displaying cues. I have each year since the beginning of the ICCS shows. I will be bringing fancy Josswests, Ginacues, Schicks, Motteys, Szambotis, Gilbert (2 special cues), Fanelli, etc.

I will bring the Dallas West box cue with ebony handle to show you, per our earlier conversation.

See you there.

Will

Secret Society.........

Not 100% positive but if your not wealthy, drive a 740 i, and have $100,000.00 pool table to play on with numerous cues made in china you'll probably not be let in!

Actually I believe there is a fee for those things.........Not positive how much or if there actually is but here is the web page.....

http://www.cuecollectors.com/index.html

Give Bill Stroud a shout......he should be able to clarify.

It's $200 to display or $175 as a guest and it includes the dinner and welcome reception and you can get in on other stuff. This just covers his costs. You can call Bill Stroud at 505.378.5677 and give him a credit card number - as a collector he will encourage you to display - the racks hold 10 cues, so nobody is going to drag a huge collection.

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas group rate for the show was only $199 per night. That's a great deal. The Hyatt Lake las vegas is next door if the Ritz is not available. This is on a lake resort about 20 - 30 minutes from downtown.

Or, you can send a check to:

Hope you can join.

CHRIS, I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE INFO. I'D LOVE TO DISPLAY, BUT I'D BE WAY TO NERVOUS GETTING MY CUES ALL THE WAY OUT THERE. I DON'T EVEN TRUST TO SHIP A SINGLE CUE, LET ALONE TEN OF MY NICEST ONES. IF I COULD TAKE THEM AS CARRY ON (WHICH I KNOW I CAN'T) I WOULD BE ALL OVER DISPLAYING OUT THERE. I AM CERTAINLY GOING TO SEE WHAT I CAN DO TO GET OUT THERE. THIS IS MY BUSY TIME OF THE YEAR AND IT MAKES IT TOUGH FOR ME TO GET AWAY FROM THE SHOP. HOPEFULLY I CAN PULL IT OFF AND SEE ALL YOU GUYS OUT THERE. IF NOT I'LL TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT FOR NEXT YEAR. I'D LOVE TO SEE A PICTURE OFTHE DISPLAY OF THE "FAST N LOOSE" COLLECTION. ALTHOUGH, I'M SURE THERE ARE MANY COLLECTIONS OUT THERE THAT ARE WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE INFO.

I don't know if this would help you feel better, but I bought insurance for my collection though this agency:

http://www.collectinsure.com/?src=overture

It's underwritten by Hartford, it's easy to obtain, somewhat affordable, and they have a fair claim process should something happen.

Anyway, they have a travel policy, so if you take your collection with you it's insured. Not only that, they have provisions for coverage for shipping as well.

Traveling with a collection that is insured at least gives you a little peace of mind. I feel a lot better knowing my collection is specifically insured by a specialized agency.
