Gold Crown 5 thoughts?

i have played an hour on ne and about 8 hours aon another one they are the triple nuts, but they are expensive, and play no different than GC 4 that is set up right by a top notch billiards tech like Glen, or Oscar and his dad, Mark Gregory. the 5's arent worth the extra $$$ from the 4's, but they do play great the cushions are perfect for sure, no bouncy springy tables.
GCV's
I do prefer them over the GC IV's, I like the new corner casting since they have a much lower profile. But since they are made of metal, it is still difficult to shoot off of the seam. The table I played on had the pro cut pockets, this is a great option since you get tight pockets right from the factory. These tables play really nice, it's one of the best tables I've played on.

The WPBA uses Brunswick tables...and fortunately for us, Brunswick gave us the new GC V's to use in 2008. These tables are wonderful! Of course, the GC IV's were terrific as well....but I love that the V's have the longer rails...so no shims are needed. So no dead spots near the pockets...and the pockets are naturally tighter with the longer rails.
Of course, I have been a fan of the Gold Crown table for my entire career...and I think that every model gets better and better!

just out of interest - the gold crown 5 still doesn't have completely flush pockets to the rail like diamond tables do is that correct?
so if it is then is there any reason why brunswick wouldn't make the pockets completely flush like on the diamonds... is there any downside to it?
just a noob question really I haven't played on either table, I just wondered if there is any downside to the way diamond does the pockets. if not i would have thought every manufacturer would copy the idea.

I think the pockets on the V's are only slightly higher then the Diamonds. The pocket irons on the Diamond are a little above rail hight but you don't notice them because you can only see how cool the leather covers are:wink: I have played on both 4s and 5s they play the same to me. The 5s are a stunning table with looks that are reminiscent of the past but also futuristic. The fit and finish could be a little better IMO on the gold crowns. They make 2 different pocket widths now so you can have a pro cut pocket for more $$$$. I still think having both Diamond and Brunswick gold crown in the same home would be the nutz.worriedbeef said:
