Gold Crown questions

The good thing is that it's a GCI or GCII. I'd much rather have either one of those than a GCIII. The IV's and V's are good too, but it's not one of those, but I don't particularly care for the III's.

One thing I forgot to mention. Check around your area and see if you can find a shop that does metal polishing. You can have the aluminum castings polished to a chrome like finish, if you want. I had one done up for a customer and it really looked sharp. You may be able to do it yourself if you have a really good buffing wheel but I did one set myself and found out it was a lot easier and in the long run cost efficient to have it done by the pros. Enjoy your table (if you get it)!

Are they aluminum or pot metal???

I don't know if he has different castings, but My GCII table came with chrome aluminum trim, chromed leg levelers...and brass finished pocket castings. underneath the brass finish was pot metal....I had the brass finish blasted off cause underneath was chrome....It was easily polished to a high gloss "chrome looking" finish.....however within a short time it grayed out.

I am fairly sure a got a table that was made up from multiple tables...

I recently had all the castings, rail trim, ball counters and name plate powdercoated a gloss black to match my 10+ year old ameature strip sand and refinish job...cost me $110.00 to have the metal powdercoated.

If I knew then what I know now (about my castings at least) I would have had them powdercoated 10 years ago.

If they came with brass or bronze looking castings, they were from a GCIII. The GCI & GCII come with cast aluminum castings.
 
Could use help identifying this table

I got this 9' table, 50X100 playing surface, for 500 and I need to replace the return pockets but dont know what brand it is. The only thing on the table is a brass place that has a script CM on it. No other part numbers or marks anywhere. It has a 1" marble bed, solid wood skirt, wire ball return.

We thought so too. Was kind of hoping that would be a dead give away in finding out who made the table but havent had much luck. Someone did say on another posting the CueMaster made some GC knock offs with marble bed but I can't find much info on their older tables. Plays real smooth, I love it.
 
Black on Black

Heres my GC. Every piece of metal was removed powder coated gloss black with a super durable clear coat. All the wood and fiberglass was painted ultra matte flat black. The contrast of the gloss black and flat black is pretty attractive.

I just purchased a pool hall in Syracuse NY with 12 GC 4's, and I am re finishing all of them just like this one. Ill post pics of the room when it's done. Should look pretty good with 12 black GC's, 8 brand new Black Diamonds, and a Black Gabriels Imperator!

Trying to decide if I should replace any rubber. Tables were purchased new, 20 years ago. I hate the thought of having the tables this far torn down and not replacing them, but costs are adding up fast. What do you think?
 
Whats the knock on the GC III?

Seems many here feel/believe the GC III is the least desirable. I've owned one for 10 yrs. No complaints. Plays as well now as it did when first installed. Cushions were replaced upon purchase. Pockets stock factory specs.

Just wondering for those in the "know", what is the major issue or issues? I've read numerous times many prefer the I or II or V, however never any details as to why. What are the flaws? Short of "diamondizing" can the flaws be corrected? I've read about slate sag due to frame design on the III. I have not experienced it as problem.

Thanks for the effort, however link is dead.

If the link provided manuals and stock differences e.g. table weight, adjustable legs, casting detail, ect., that info has been posted in a number of threads. I was hoping to get the pro's opinion (the people quite familar with the guts of these tables) on why they tend to rate the III as the least desirable. Articulate the flaws and wether they are correctable or not.

The room used to be Corky's, now it is Premium Billiards. We are doing a major overhall of the entire place. The Gabriels Imperator is getting picked up tomorrow morning but won't be installed until the construction and new carpet goes in. The 8 brand new Diamonds are getting delivered on March 15th so that will be the day when everything is completed. I will post our progress and let everyone know when we are ready for people to mob the place.
