I have a chance to get this table for $600.00 to $800.00 (have not made an offer on it as of yet). Not sure of year or of I II or III. basicly all I really know for sure is that it is a Gold Crown drop pocket. Do you all think it is worth it or what should I offer on it? Thank you in advance Dave

Take it....it's a steal!
I'm pretty sure it's a GC1.
..if it needs new rubber, it's worth it.

Choice table, probably already broke in;). I am not sure but it looks like it has ash tray pockets:cool:

Snag it,he who hesitates is lost.

The nameplate is that of a II, but the color, the ashtray in the corner and the fact that there are leveling shims under the feet (no leg levelers?) suggests that it is a I. Either way it should be a good deal, even if it needs rubber and cloth, which it does:smile:

Cuebuddy, what is the pic in your avatar? Thanks.

supercoupe, that's definitely a great price for a GC, if you are a GC fan. I especially like the aesthetic of the ash trays (and I'm not a smoker).

I have been trying to cross my two passions for years. Even though I was able to pollinate a measles cue ball with an onion the darned thing was not round. I had chucked this one up in my lathe but I could not get it round due to my eyes watering.

Thanks for the laugh pt:smile:

This is the second table that I have been looking at. Did talk to the owner of this table and he told me he would take $700 for it. This one is a ball return table and comes with the light that is in the pics. That is all i know about that table so far.

I have no use for the ashtray corners on either table. I do smoke but I do not smoke in my house and if I did smoke in my house there would be no smoking over my pool table. LoL

I am going to be making room for it in my basement.

Geez, I need to go where you're at to get a table it appears. You can barely buy a barbox in good shape for $1000 bucks around here, and if you find any name brand, like Brunswick, 9ft in half ass decent shape for $1000 its a smokin' deal.

Buy this one without delay.

Gold crown I

It's a Gold Crown I all day. If you buy it you will see the ball return box has a carpenters union stamp on it and the underside of the feet will have a date on them. Probably dates back to early 1960's, mine is from 1962. If the rubber is good, just keep it, some of the best rubber made, but is can get hard depending on conditions.

If you look at the span between the foot pedestals it should have a AR6100 sticker.

These tables are indestructible. They outplay anything ever made in my opinion.

Both tables you posted pictures of are GC2's, GC1's didn't have the ashtray option, and the early GC1's had the plastic "Brunswick" name plate, not the metal ones in the pictures you posted;)

I can't think of the last time I ran across a GC1 that didn't look like worm-wood on the bottom side of the rails. They can all be made to play as good as a new GC or Diamond, but all original...not a chance, not with out a lot of extensive rail work done to them first;)...Mark Gregory and I should know...we rebuild them to play like todays tables do;)

Still play truer than Diamonds, no offense, just the truth. I don't sell, just play on them.

Why piss on the guy's campfire?

He sounds excited, why not just let it pass...

Good table for 90% of the players out there

Table gone. Just bought it...

Just kidding. But if I find out where it is I will buy in in a heartbeat.

$600 to $800 is stealing

Because RKC knows what you like even if you don't!!

Seriously, I wonder what percentage of pool rooms in this country still have Gold Crown vs. Diamonds. Probably still 85% or better and that is not likely to change much.

So for the lowly non-professional who plays most frequently on a Gold Crown, what makes the most sense to have as a practice table? But sure if you can swing 4k for a used Diamond why not if you can find one.

Buy the table and work on your game. You will see it repay for itself over time and then some.

I would have to agree with you on that, but only against the older Diamonds. The new Diamond's play damn good if I say so myself;)...but, just like any other tables, Brunswicks included, it all depends on who works on them;)
