Good Cuemakers On AZ

I think another fantastic cue maker who occasionally posts here on AZB is Bryan Mordt of BCM cues (AZB username = Bryan Mordt). Bryan lives in Queen Creek, AZ.

Bryan has been making cues for some time now and has an EXCELLENT reputations as a solid cuemaker, is known internationally, and is a very nice guy to boot. I recently had Bryan refinish my Tad. Tad, to this day, still uses a lacquer based finish and I enlisted Bryan to put on his urethene auto-type finish. The cue has never looked better and his rates were reasonable.

Also, Bryan's cues are of a very high standard and are always made to the customer's specifications. I highly recommend Bryan Mordt of BCM cues.

Based on my experience . . .

I recommend the following, with whom I have dealt directly:

Dick Neighbors (RHNCUE)
Brent Hartman (BHQ)
Shurtz Cue (BOB OWEN)

I recommend the following based on the quality of their cues and their reputation for customer service:

Chad Carter (CARTER)
Bryan Mordt (BRYANMORDT)

I don't think you can go wrong with a cue from any of the above.

From personal experience, Kent Davis is a heck of a guy, a player and last but certainly not least a cuemaker. I have a sneaky of his that I lent to a local A player when his cues were at home. He regularly plays with a capone, a cognoscenti or a scruggs, but loved my sneaky. (It's not for sale).

I can't believe it hasn't been posted already, but JIM LEE! J&D Customs! There are numerous threads all about him already. Wonderful guy, wonderful cues, and phenominal lead times and prices. I haven't heard a single negative thing about him.

I agree Ray,he is a great cuemaker and from the cues I have seen and played with he is on my wish list.

The mouse

Nice fella and I have played some with his cues....Is Ryan AKA RAT cues.

I kinda think he is busy but seems like a up and comer who we should all be proud of, he is one of us.

I can recommend Bob Dzuricky. He's made three cues for me. He's honest and a good guy to deal with. Try him out.

Jeff Olney............

Edit: Sorry Lenny. I just noticed that you said "Cuemakers on AZ". Of the cuemakers that post here, I'd have to give the nod to Mike Gulyassy. He makes a awesome hitting and great looking cue.

Ok I will have to say Leon Sly he is my favortie cue maker as you can tell by my cues , my player and the cues I have on order from him... He is great to deal with ... Fun to talk too... Builds some very good looking cues and the hit is the best hitting cue i have yet to play with ... I got rid of my Schons and have gone to using Sly's cues ... We have become friends and talk via phone at least once a day sometimes more then that ... We have plans to attend Valley Forge together next year and he is headed down this way in September .... Sly is really under rated and still kind of unknown ... But I don't think he will remain that way forever ... His exotic cue line is starting to come out as he has finished a couple of them and the people that have got them are really excited and happy with the product so far ...

Next on the list is Doug Patrick ... He started building me a cue in Feb... Estimated due time was late May or Early June ... I'm still waiting on the cue but he has answered every pm and phone call and told me recently the cue is about two weeks away. It is a highly personalized cue that I designed so I'm not complaining about the wait ...I have told Doug several times to take his time just make sure it is right. There have been a couple snags along the way but Doug was good in communicating and went above and beyond the normal to get things done as I wanted them. I won one of his sneakies in a raffle here it arrived with a warped shaft ... The guy I got it from did'nt want to do right on the shaft only offering to pay a portion of the replacement cost even though he got new money for a used cue ... Doug is making that right for me ... I shot with the sneaky and it has a great hit to it even with a warped shaft ... I'm hoping to order a Thuya Burl ... Or Ambonya Burl cue from him next as his price seems very reasonable on these cues and his work seems to be very good ... I will let y'all know more when my cue arrives and I do a review on it ...

Brent Hartman (BHQ) ... This guy is very funny and builds a awesome cue and very affordable prices .. He does it because it is what he loves to do ... He sent me pictures of my break cue I did not expect for awhile yet and was surpirsed to see how it is coming along ... Just don't ask him to make Pizza for you ...

Jimmy Lee .. Very nice guy who loves building cues and loves his customers .. He will treat you good and does a good job ... Very good communications ... Good prices ... You sure can't go wrong with Jimmy Lee ... And you can't go wrong with any of the guys on this list ...

If you like steel jointed cues Joe Baker builds a good one at a very good price .. And is a great guy to deal with also... Again you can't go wrong here...

With all of the stuff I have seen on Varney and Wheat here it has me wondering if people think there is a lack of choices for cuemakers on here who are reputable.I personally have seen a few on here who are top notch and stand up guys like Mike Webb,Dave Albrecht who post as nbll01 and Greg Sirca who post as gsirca on here among others I have not spoken with or met.

I have been to Daves shop when he was here in Arizona before he moved to Ohio and he explained to me why he does things a certain way and I understood it and it made sense to me.The cues he makes are very clean and tasteful, they are players cues.He makes great cues that are
affordable, customs for the same price as what others are selling conversions for.

Greg Sirca makes cues that are very fancy and when I see the prices I am blown away, yet the guy was ready to give up cuemaking I believe at one point.I like the style of his work but haven't played with one,but I have yet to hear anything negative about him or his cues.

Now Mike Webb,to me this guy is top notch,I met him at a Joss Tour event in Albany and had him do a tip.I got to try a cue of his a buddy owns and it plays superb.I really think he is world class and he post right here on AZ!

I have left out Tommy Migliore and Paul Rubino whom I have met who are great guys because I dont believe they post on here.If I have failed to mention anyone then please mention their name in this thread and tell us alittle about them.

So I guess what has me curious is with choices like these why would you choose someone else whom is suspect, meaning having customer service issues and whatnot?

I know there are other good cue builders on az but these are a few that IMO make very nice cues .

Joe Callaluca
Shawn Putnam
Jeff Olney
Jim Lee
Leon Sly
Pat Diveney
Paul Dayton
Doug patrick
Dave Albrect
Mason
Crown Cues
Mike Gulyassy
