Good things do happen at azb

Well here's my little story about some good stuff that happened with one of our members. There's going to no names given to protect the innocent and the not so innocent. I had a bit of a problem with a cuemaker.I didn't get my cue or deposit back but i'm over that now. Let me tell you why. I did post in a thread about this certain man and I was fairly nice about it. A couple of days after my post I get a pm from another cuemaker asking for my mailing address. He said he was going to send me a cue. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read it. So i sent him back an email and thanked him and gave him my address. Well a short while after that i was putting my favorite cue away but it started unscrewing at the A joint. So i screwed it back together and gave it a little extra twist and it split up one long point and up one short point. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. This was tuesday and I scrambled the next 2 days trying to get a cue to play with.On friday i get home from work and lo and behold there's a mailing tube on my pool table.Guess what's inside? The cue from this other cuemaker. It turned out to be one of the best hitting cues I've played with(been playing 50 years).I'm so thrilled with it I smile every time I open my case.It has restored my faith in AZB and in my fellow members......I'll add more later,I think I'll go and have a cry now. Thanks to all the good members...Rick Trembley.

good story.

I dont know the details, but from what you just wrote, I would probably send a check (or gift certificate) in the mail to the person who sent you the free cue.

This very, very nice of someone to step up to the plate like that. Glad the new cue is working out good for you. I would like to know who the cue maker is though.

Well for sure Rick. When it comes down to it, we are family. We may not act like it at times but when it comes down to the crunch, we look after our own. We are just the same as any large dysfunctional family.

I can't blame you for not wanting to out the culprit but it would be nice to know the name of the cue maker that was responsible for the good deed.

His Karma Level just got filled up again but it would be nice to know so the rest of us can keep his Karma going for awhile.

Ya know, a person gets so tired of reading the head lines every day that it is nice to read a feel good story. It may never make National news but thats ok too. Its between us guys here.

I understand not naming the bad guy, but you need to tell us who the angel is so we can all thank him.

You must have some good karma. You got the best hitting cue you've ever had, but you got it in a way that you will always make you feel good when you pull it out your case. Which should lead to good karma on the table. And to the good sir who steped up to the table and turn your average someone got ripped off story into an inspiring story of hope for humanity. That cue maker deserves to be known for his good deed.

The reason I haven't said the name of the super duper cuemaker is I asked him if I could use his name and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I think it's up to him to let his name come up. As far as sending him a gift I'm going to make a deal with any member who has or knows of any needy youngsters or beginners who can't afford a cue that I'll send a cue to them. I have a couple of Malis and heubler plane janes and I'll send out 3 or 4 cues. They will be straight with new tips but they aren't new cues. If you want to post here and PM me your address I'll get them in the mail asap. I just want to make sure they are for somebody that needs one and not for somebody that just wants a free cue. Thanks for all the nice comments and we'll get AZB back to a family yet....Rick.

This is what azb is and should be about.

Great story..

Name and shame this kind and generous cue maker so he can receive his just rewards in the form of good publicity and feedback and plenty of orders.

I'm tempted to buy from him just on principal of your story.

Post

There are some very respectful cue makers that are members/registered users here, the bad ones seam to rune it for the good guys that are trying to make a honest living building cues
I know of a few cue makers here that are known to do as you described to help a AZer out on a bad day, high five to the good guy that helped the OP get back in stroke.
I've seen some positive posts on AZ lately... maybe it's because earl is playing good and getting pumped up for the mosconi cup!!

Good job AZ' keep up the good work.

I believe that there are many good people out there and I think it is awesome that this cuemaker was so generous! I am happy that you shared your "good news" because it really nice to have a drop of positive in a sea of negative.

By the way I am not referring to this forum when I say sea of negative. I have not spent enough time hear to know any better. I am referring to every where you go. I think many people are quick to talk about the negative and forget to share the positive. Don't want anyone to think I am rocking the boat when I just started here!

Believe me you're doing the cuemaker no favors by keeping his name secret!
It possibly was part of the reason he did it :)
I think it's understood he can't give freebies away all the time and this was a special exception.

i have been on both sides of this story

a fellow builder needed some small parts and i had plenty of extras, so i told him send me an address and shipped them to him at no charge,
a couple days ago i needed a small piece of stabilized maple, and posted it in the machine and tool section that i wanted to buy a small piece, a different builder saw the thread and told me he had some extras and he sent them to me at no charge.
neither deal was a lot of money, but it just shows there are a lot of good people on this site.

enjoy your cue
