Goofyness at the pool hall

Cell phone time out

how about when the opponent, while at the table shooting, stops to text!

In properly run leagues and tournaments, one must call a time out to carry on a phone or text conversion.

Another one that bugs me is when it's your opponent's turn to shoot and s/he's busy with a conversation (no phone involved).

Being rude seems to have become an accepted part of our culture...

In properly run leagues and tournaments, it is against the rules to practice during a game in progress.

Thanks, I'll have to remember that. I'm from a small town where there aren't many leagues, so the TD usually just makes his own rules.

what probably happened they were playing for fun and no money. they dont want to wait around while you go get a jump cue. i wouldnt either. you arent in a tournament.
they were giving you a message.

I learned my lesson about table boundaries. I walked up to an unused table and shot the balls. Guy sitting there said 'wtf at you doing? We're gambling here'.

It was a 2/3 1p for 100$ and score was 2-2. The made me lay each of them 50$, laughed at me and rebroke the game.

Guess I had half of both sides.

But really, I tend to be pretty tolerant of other's faux pas. I just figure there must some things I do that people are offended by and I dont realize I am offending...so I figure they must not know it is offensive to do what they are doing.

I explained what happened in the OP, what possible "message" do you think was being given?

What!!!!!!

A JUMP SHOT PLAYING 8 BALL??? NO SUCH ANIMAL IN MY PART OF COUNTRY!!!!!
:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

The funny thing is Bob went to get his jump cue from his car and walked back into THE WRONG POOL HALL. :)

Actually went for a cold drink, checked all my voice mails and made a reservation for dinner, some people just don't have any patience.

The OP said they were some old timers. Well then you need to cut them a little slack. Sometimes we forget what's going on.

How about you're trying to rack the balls (rack your own) and your opponent grabs a ball and the cueball and tries the key shot he just missed to lose the game. You're just standing there waiting to get the ball back so you can finish racking as he shoots and misses two or three more times. If you ever wanted to throw the triangle like a boomerang at someone's head this would be the time.

Hey, you said the guy on the next table was playing one pocket, cut him some slack. He probably spent the last three days scratching his forearm jonesing for his chance to shoot again while his opponent looked over his options and he finally lost it.... decided he just had to shoot a ball somewhere, no matter what!

Had something weird happen at the pool hall today that I really don’t know how to handle. We’re just a bunch of old timers playing, no money involved. I was in the middle of a game of 8 ball When a jump shot came up, I went to my case to get my jump cue, the guy I’m playing for some goofy reason starts shooting balls on the table next to ours which was vacant. A guy on the table on our other side, whose in the
middle of a one pocket game. gets on our table and starts shooting balls. I get P.O.ed
For some unknown reason this type of thing has been going on lot this year. I think it's
almost insulting I feel if you want to hit balls hit balls, if your playing a game, even if only for fun, you should pay attention to the game.

Right or wrong?

if ever there was an appropriate time for a 'wet willie', that would be the time :D
