I have a one of a kind Keith Josey cue I found in a pawn shop in N.C. It's just the butt with no shafts. I know it's a 1 of 1 because I took it to the SCCS in July and presented it to Mr. Josey and confirmed that it was the only cue he made like that. He told me a story behind the cue stating that he had the piece of birdseye for 15 years before deciding to use it for that cue. He said when it sold brand new it was $1500. Like I said it has no shafts and does need refinishing. The butt is dead straight with some dings toward the bottom of the butt. I have a Predator fat shaft I can use with the cue. I want to sell the cue to pay some bills as I'm unemployed at the moment. My question is should I have the cue refinished and have the Predator shafts ringwork matched to the cue and then sell it? Which would be cheaper than refinishing and having a new shaft made. Or, try to sell it as is. Refinishing and having the ringwork matched costs between $200 and $225 as opposed to $300 for refinishing and having a new shaft made. I don't have the money at all to sink into have repairs done and I need money now. The cue as is is appraised at $1100, refinished would bring probably $1600. Should I post this in the for sale section? If anyone's interested let me know.
