Sorry about the car and a chuckle about a thief

The car wreck following the theft is getting to be a bit much but like others have said you can use these things for an excuse to give up or you can use them for reasons to dig into life and get tough. We all have some low points in life, it's how we deal with them that has a lot to do with defining us as a person.

Now for a story that everyone that has had a thief rip them off should enjoy. A friend was out of town on a business trip for a couple days. When he got home his apartment had been burglarized but to make matters worse the thief had destroyed high dollar speaker towers he couldn't tote off, broken lots of things, did everything he could to trash the place. My friend, we'll call him Bob, was beyond mad. As he and his best friend are looking over the mess the phone rings. Another friend calling him to let Bob know that a dirtbag that had been with somebody else when they had visited Bob a few weeks before had tried to sell them Bob's stereo.

As fate would have it Bob did know where said dirtbag lived so he and his partner jumped in his truck and headed that way. Halfway there they meet the varmint on a four lane road heading the other way. A screaming u-turn and the chase was on. Shots fired back and forth but no harm done other than a few dings in the truck. After a few turns the dirt bag is heading back towards his own apartment and has gained a little ground. His Camaro was a bit more nimble in city streets than Bob's 3/4 ton four wheel drive pick-up set up for desert work.

When Bob got to the guy's apartment the car was sitting outside. He kicked in the apartment door and beat the crap out of the guy. Wasn't satisfied so he trashed the guy's place even worse than his own had been. Well, that wasn't quite enough yet so he looked around for a little more to do. The dirtbag was still on the floor and his long plaited ponytail caught Bob's eye. Pulling out his pocket knife he whacked off the ponytail along with a little hide with a quick swipe of a very sharp Buck. Just to let the the dirtbag and his buddies know he was still holding a grudge Bob flew the ponytail from the antenna of his truck for about a year until somebody took it in a parking lot. Bob is a super nice guy when folks deserve to be treated that way so I had to laugh when he said, "You take one little scalp and people think you are a badass." Bob was pretty bad in my book when you got him stirred up.

Nice story Hu!

I'll have to add one of mine so Nat can see, karma does exist.

You all have probably heard the saying "if you lay down with dogs, expect to get some fleas".

As a young man in my early 20's I did some things that I am not very proud of. I associated with some bad people, and you could say, I was no angel myself.

I made the mistake of inviting some of these knuckleheads into my home for parties I hosted back then, from time to time.

As one might have expected, I came home one night to find my house had been broken into and valuable items including a tv and two rifles were taken. Two little slits in the bathroom window screen was all they needed to get in.

Happy to say, shortly after this I made some wholesale changes in my life, cleaning up my act pretty good.

Fast forward 10 years. I get a phone call out of the blue from a Norwalk, CT police detective who, after id'ing himself, begins asking some questions. He asked me if my home had ever been burglarized and I said yes, approx 10 years earlier. He asked if they stole my high school class ring and I said, I never considered it but maybe so, since I hadn't seen it in many years. He said that they have recovered my ring and have reason to believe that it was likely taken in my home burglary.

I asked him how did they know this was my ring. He responded, very easy, they checked with my high school's records department and with the year (1974) and the three initials that were engraved in the ring, they determined it was mine.

So then I asked where did they find it. He said the man who was wearing it was found dead in an alley with a needle still sticking out of his arm. And that this fellow was a known burglar with a long rap sheet. Trying to inject (sorry) some humor, I asked, "did he also happen to be wearing my Remington 7mm magnum?"

Please be aware, it can take a little time but if you remain patient, karma should eventually come chugging back around.

Best,
Brian kc

We used to have problems in the shrimping industry hiring people who weren't on drugs. One crackhead that used to work for us I'd see around all the time and one day he looked like hell. The night before he broke into a guys car outside a bar and the guy caught him then gave him the beating of his life. The crackhead was begging the guy to call the cops after his ribs were cracked. The cops get there and saw the beating he got, kinda laughed at him and let him go. They figured he'd learned his lesson. The funny part to me was the crackhead wasn't even pissed at the guy who beat him up, he knew he had that coming but he was pissed the cops wouldn't give him a ride to the hospital. Crackheads hate the cops for some reason :)

I think that taking the scalp qualifies "Bob" as a badass.
The first modern day scalping i've ever heard about.
Great story

Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't be getting my car back from the mechanic this Friday. I have to say that this whole experience did bum me out, but at the same time it was really amazing to see that so many people were willing to help. Again, thank you all so much to everybody and God bless.

Just read this whole thread and am happy to hear that Nate was touched by some very kind folks..

I loved Hu's story.. He is right, Bob is a badass!!
