Got f***ing robbed today

For those students out there like yourself be aware of the American Opportunity Tax Credit for the 2010 tax filing. You get a $2500 credit for the first $2500 spent towards higher education, then 25% for every dollar spent after that. There may be a limit, I forget. I've told several students of this who were not aware. So if you weren't, well this can help makeup for your bad luck. I believe the tax credit will be carried into the 2011 tax year as well.

Be sure to check on this. Alot of people are missing out on this, more than 1/2 of college students are unaware of it. I can show you the filing forms if needed.

I got robbbed traveling cross country by greyhound once, they took everything and I missed my connection to the next leg of the trip. It felt like they held me down and kicked me in the *****, actually worse. I met a priest who literally gave me the shirt off his back and a veteran who helped by driving me about 5 hours towards my final destination. When I got there the person I had went to see decided to go visit family out of state and wouldn't let me stay at his place. I slept outside for 13 days, living off the food banks near Olympia Washington and trying to decide if I'd be staying in the west, which was my original plan. Life experience to be sure, it all makes you stronger in the end, but that's no consolation now.

There's still lots of good people in this world, the news never shows them, but they are out there.

M9B:

You are right. I told Nate the very same in my paypal note. There are lots more good people in the world than bad.

And never worry about these bad guys, they almost always get what they deserve in the end.

Your Olympia, Washington fiasco sounded like a real tester. I agree with you, what doesn't kill you typically makes you stronger.

Here again is Nates paypal info for those interested to help this nice young man out: pro9b@hotmail.com

Best,
Brian kc

Crooks suck!

Nat,

As bad as you felt the other day, I hope the AZB family has made you feel ten times as GOOD!

Mike

This all very good. You don't see strangers come together for much in this country any more. It says a lot for the AZ community. Now if the whole pool world was like this we would have something going.

You're a good man to bring up the rear and help Nate break even on this one.
Have a great weekend.
Terry.

I don't know where Nat went - his mailbox is full too.

I'll try to track him down if we haven't heard from him by tomorrow.

I'm here Chris. This is absolutely incredible....I lost a total of $480 and I'm at over $500 in my paypal right now.

Could everyone who sent me money post their name so I can green rep you? Again, thank you all so much, this almost brings me to tears....

I was going to crack a joke about Pay Pal Nate, but considering what you just went thru, maybe I'll save it for another time when you might feel like laughing.

sent a little something to help with expenses, or just a few beers while out playing pool. good luck sir!

Good things happen to good people. Glad to see things have worked out. Your looking up & probably the crook is passed out on crack living a life of hell. :thumbup2:

I would have been surprised had it not worked out this way

For all the bickering and fighting sometimes the AZB members still do a super job of looking out for their own. I'd have been very surprised if your losses weren't covered and more. Not that their intentions weren't fantastic but I felt sure that the guys offering to make up any shortfalls were making the safest bets they had ever made.

The AZB gang comes through again!

Lets just say this has been one of the worst weeks of my life. Got in a car wreck last night, totaled my car. Was coming on an on ramp to a freeway and didn't realize the turn was so sharp, careened off the side of the road and smashed into the guard rail at like 40mph. The right front tire is bent, facing sideways, along with lots of front end damage. Makes me wonder if I did something to have this kind of karma.

I have to thank you guys for sending me some help from the theft a few days ago. If it wasn't for that I'd be so depressed I wouldn't ever want to leave my house. Again, thank you guys so much for everything, soon as I figure out everyone who donated I'll send green rep on the way.

God Bless you guys and thanks again.

Nat,

Sometimes these sort of things turn out for the better.

I remember back when I was 24, my young wife and I didn't have much. I came home one night and her and her mom were there, and she was crying. Our place gotten burglarized and they stoled anything we had of value -wedding gifts, our stereo, her sewing machine.

It was like a wake up call. This was a low moment for us. We had just returned to LA nearly broke after an unsuccessful transfer across the country. I stepped up my efforts at my office work and worked weekends in construction (it was higher paying than my office job). I worked like a madman. In a year and a half we had saved up enough money to buy a house. I kept working hard until we had 2 new cars paid for in cash and a decent savings account.

I owed it all to that one moment. We may have lost some possessions, but it motivated me to work hard to avoid being in that position ever again, and truthfully that moment sparked me like nothing else in life. I still remember to this day the pain of that moment and my vow to myself to do everything in my power to overcome it.

Please get through the bad times-smile the pain of a frown isn't worth it.

I have lost a Gps(700.) knives, binoculars,Costa Delmar Sunglasses, and someother fishing stuff. In 6 months right from my driveway. Last Saturday my truck was rolled out the driveway-so close to being gone!! Kids .teenagers I expect. There was a nice get together 2 doors down- the police officer who put it on -had his cologne taken from his truck, but the squad car keys were in the counsel too-very close miss- He would have been missing his as hole too if they had been taken. I installed a Hunting camera-mine needs to be closer-they take pictures or movie clips(2-3) minutes. Thanks for all the azers helping Nat. I only posted this bcause I wanted you to know ( I really feel your Pain)) god bless Mark I was going to post Sunday but different options- I didn't post because it could have sounded like Pre meditated Murder if ya know what I mean.

Chris;

What surprises me most about your story was that there were stereos when you were 24.

Didn't they just roll out fire, like 2 or 3 years earlier. :grin-square: :p :grin-square:

Best,

I think it is more the cycle of life than karma biting you in the azz. Sometimes bad things happen to good people and as Tate pointed out, the good people become better, stronger people.

This might not be a defining moment in your life like Tate experienced (or it might, who knows) but it is something that you will have to overcome and doing that will be a testament to your own personal strength. The next time something bad happens (it will) you will be a stronger person for having survived this current unfortunate circumstance and will be able to handle it. There is a reason the phrase "seasoned veteran" was coined.

Easier said than done but don't get discouraged. Sometimes when it rains it pours. When I was in my late teens I had a 3 yr stint where every yr between March & May something bad would happen. I won't bore you with them all but they were life changing things, one being that my mother passed. After the 2nd yr I would get physically ill towards the end of Feb out of fear of what was to come. I still get a little anxious this time of the yr and it was so long ago that I would be willing to bet that you weren't even born yet.

Keep your chin up, something good will come of this. It might be that you get more money than the car is worth or you get a nicer or more affordable car. It might be as subtle as a friendship that started with someone because of all this and that person ends up being a life long friend. Regardless of what it is, find the positive (being robbed turned positive, right?) and focus on the positive, not the negative.
