Got my first semi-sponsorship

Nick's Night Club (local bar) has agreed to give me free table time on the best Valley's in the area, a discount on drinks, and has also agreed to pay a percentage of my entrance fees in the California Pool Players Tour next season! It's not a whole lot, but I'm still excited. As far as the CPPT goes, I'll have to pay the "membership fee", but the separate tournament entrance fees will be covered in part by the bar. Pretty cool deal. I've played with the owner a couple times, and we have a pretty good relationship. He believes that my skills can take me a lot farther than where I am, and was actually willing to back that thought with cash money. I'm pretty stoked. Free time on the barbox can help me with most of my stroke and tight-positioning drills, but I'll still be heading down to the hall with 9' Diamonds as often as I can afford. If they gave me the same deal I'd probably poop my pants.

Congratulations, anything beats nothin, just don't go crazy with the discounted drinks. Oh, if you want I can send you some Depends I can't wear any more in case the poolroom gives you freebies also.

Baxter...Any kind of sponsorship is good these days! Good luck in your competitions!

Thank you! I'm pretty excited about it.

Also, the discounted drinks arent that much of a discount. I only drink when I'm playing pool with my casual friends (and that's not very often, they don't want to play pool with me anymore) anyways. When I'm with my pool friends, I drink a pint every hour and a half or so, if I'm drinking at all. I'm too competitive to carry a buzz while I'm playing a competitive game. Same thing with my softball team. I'm the only sober guy in "beer league" softball.

If that ever happens I'll be way too happy to worry about Depends. I'll crap my pants and walk around proudly.

Congrats Baxter. With money so tight everywhere these days it sure must feel good to get some sponsorship. In essence, they're saying they have some faith in you.

Good luck!
