Anyone considered putting a GPS tracker in a case?
You can purchase a small GPS tracker on ebay for $25.00. Might be cheap insurance to track down a thief.

I still to this day after 20 years of playing pool, don't understand how anyone can let their cues/case be stolen ???

if I'm playing the cue is by my table. when not playing the cue is in the case , case in my hand. if I have to go to the bathroom, the cues/case come with me.

I only ever have my case in my car traveling to/from the poolhall. once at home it's in the house.

I guess I just don't get it.

You are constantly vigilant and trust no one.

It has served you well. These are excellent habits.

I broke those rules and paid the price.

The Cops for the most part don't give a hoot about Pool plays. as a call to a pool room is like having to deal with a not good situation.

We had a guy show up at at a sports bar with a stolen Cue, the owner had photos, and information that made ID-ing his Cue very easy. The Cue was unique, and had it not been for an off duty Cop telling the other Cop what was what.

The rightful owner would have never got his Cue back. The bad guy walked, as he had a good story of how he got the Cue, by buying it from another guy in a bar down the street, etc. and no one could say I saw the guy seal it. So he walked, and was out his prize.

or taking you cue on public transport through some pretty dodgy areas

If someone asks me for my cue, with a baby on the way, i might just hand it over.

GPS tracker would come in handy shortly after.

I was also looking into a tracking chip for my case as well.
So far what I am looking at is a chip that would need to be charged every so often.
I was hoping for more of a permanent solution but I guess there is nothing out there.

If anyone else has a recommendation I would like to see it.

i think pet tracking devices with an app for an iphone could be feesible.

If i get a custom case made up, ill ask for a small compartment to be made up for a GPS device. somewhere it can be taken out to be charged /change batteries.

Implanting a "chip" like some pet chips, would make identifying the cue or case easy to claim as yours. These chips are the size of a grain of rice. They can be scanned and read later to identify the item,as yours. No charging needed as the chip is a "passive" device.

If your looking at the case and cues, I doubt you're gonna need a chip. ;)

They hard part is getting your hands on it all in there first place.

I know this is not what you want too do and only seen it a couple times,a player put his case under the table while shooting, scratch case better than no case. hmmmmmmmmm

This is exactly how a few people I know lost their case.
The issue is that the case then is out of your immediate sight.
I always like to have my case right there in plain sight with my cues resting against it.
I probably look for it every 30 seconds or so.

These type of chips are only good if you find the case and just need to prove it is yours.
I think they also would tell you where the case had been?
They would not help you track it down if it was out of sight.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I use these at work to track trucks and equipment. It's $100 to purchase and $20 a month service plan. You can easily hide this in a pouch on the case. Sorry for the upside down pic. but you get the idea.
