It was so great to hear the Professor back in the booth again! He adds so much glamor to whatever match he calls. I would listen to him comment on somebody mowing a lawn, that's how interesting he is to me.

Sigel shot super and is still a very BALLSY player, taking shots that he has to know, should he miss, Schmidt may set him down for the night. I really enjoyed watching Mike compete again.

John Schmidt is still a great player. He'll make lots of dents in the pool world before he unscrews his cue permanently.

Bottom line for me, the Professor made a good night a wonderful one. Grady, thanks for a sterling performance. For me, listening to Grady was the highlight of the night.

Spot on Terry, Grady was excellent. It is nice to hear someone that knows the game and has played at a high level announce. And Mike played great.

I'm not gonna knock the other guy like a lot of others will because he OBVIOUSLY found out he had to commentate on very, very short notice. I'm guessing it was the other guy's very first pool commentating gig.

That said.... GRADY DID A HELL OF A JOB COMMENTATING! Not only did he commentate really well, he delivered while having to carry a total know-nothing in pool. Good job, Prof!!

Dave

It's good being young and having a knowledgable pool player help show what shots a 14.1 should be shooting. Grady is in my top 3 commentators along with Danny Diliberto and Jim Wych. Grady has a very calm, cool, and collected tone. He has very good insight with pool knowledge and has some good stories. I think Danny D. has the best pool stories out there though.

Grady was spot-on as usual. You gotta love the bonus stories he throws in. If only he would have had a decent tele-strator! (notice I didn't say co-host) :D

Grady and Billy have always been the best in the booth imo. I met Grady in Clevland 20 years ago on tour with my band Great White at the Hotel we were staying at and he took me 3 blocks away where they had a straight pool round robin tournament going. What a blast it was Archers 1st ever straight pool tournament and he ran 200 balls. Grady played very well in the match I saw him play too. He ran 115 but did lose to Rempe. I took him and Jimmy Fusco on our tour bus and they were laughing because I had tons of accu-stats tapes. Gradys awesome and quite a player and commentator

And you weren't gonna knock the other guy. LOL. Congrats to Grady on a wonderful job !!

i LOVED grady's line about getting in the zone and just running balls being 'better than sex'!

Terry, I totally agree Grady is certainly a class act. I wish they would have him more involved. I have had Grady here in my Pool Room, and my customers to this day keep asking when Grady and his wife Randi are coming back.

Very Nice post!!!

I always enjoy Grady's commentary and visit his room in Columbia every chance I get. Too bad Grady was not asked to commentate with Sigel during the eight ball match.

Grady gave me a signed copy of his book that is a must read. There is a chapter in the book where Grady describes a steamy encounter in vivid (and I mean VIVID) detail. :embarrassed2:

Thanks for your contribution to pool Grady.

Thanks

Thank you, everyone for your support and good words. Terry and Manwon, especially, great friends. I'm working on some projects, that if I can pitch and sell them, pool will gain it's rightful place in the sports world. Maybe we can finally get rid of these onerous organizations. Here we are again in 2008 and I have no invitation to the straight pool tournament. It aint' a world championship if guys like me don't get to play.
Mike Sigel played very well, I thought. He averaged 31 balls. Why can't I at least get the chance to play well and make some waves, if nothing else?
I happen to like Kevin and Deno. Hell, I have many friends with worse backgrounds than Kevin's. The guy has paid more than six million dollars, which is way more than the BCA or the UPA has done. The IPT had too much glitz and not enough substance. Well, I can't fault the guy for thinking big. I don't know and cannot predict where the IPT will be in the future but for now at least I'm getting to speak about the sport I love. Thanks again,
Your friend,
Grady

Grady is so knowledgable in Straight Pool it's like a free lesson when you hear him discribe what's going on in the match. I agree Grady rules at commentary and is a fine player as well. It's a pleasure to have him for a friend.
